As Merrin and Varikka push forward, the tunnel grows narrower and more treacherous. The air is thick with dust, and the ground trembles beneath their feet. Suddenly, a loud crack echoes through the tunnel, and the walls begin to shift, revealing a hidden chamber beyond. The Time-Splitting Sword's energy surges as it illuminates the new space, casting flickering shadows on the walls. Varikka winces in pain as she limps forward, her injured ankle protesting the sudden movement. She stumbles, but Merrin catches her arm, steadying her. The Guardian's pursuit grows louder, its dark energy seeping into the air. A faint rumbling noise echoes through the tunnel, growing louder by the second. The hidden chamber is small, with a low ceiling and steep walls. In the center, a large stone door bears intricate carvings of ancient runes. The door is covered in dust and cobwebs, but it slowly creaks open as Merrin approaches. A narrow passageway beyond beckons, disappearing into darkness. The air emanating from the passageway seems stale and musty, but it offers a respite from the collapsing tunnel. Varikka's eyes widen as she gazes into the unknown passage. "This way," she says, her voice barely above a whisper. "We can't stay here." But as she takes a step forward, her injured ankle gives out beneath her, causing her to cry out in pain.

I catch Varikka as she stumbles forward, my heart racing as I feel the ground shifting beneath our feet. The hidden chamber looms before us, its stone walls slick with moisture and its air heavy with the scent of decay.

"Varikka, are you alright?" I ask, my voice strained as I help her regain her balance. She nods grimly, wincing in pain as she puts weight on her injured ankle. "I... I think so," she says, her voice hushed.* "But we can't stay here. That tunnel is about to come down on top of us."

I know she's right, but the thought of venturing into the unknown passageway fills me with a sense of dread. The air is musty and stale, and the shadows seem to move in ways that make my skin crawl.

But we have no choice. The Guardian is closing in on us, its dark energy seeping into the very walls around us. And if we stay here, we may be buried alive as the rest of the tunnel collapses around us.

So I take a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever challenges lie ahead. "Alright," I say, my voice tight with tension. "Let's see where this passage leads." I help Varikka to her feet, supporting her weight as she limps forward into the darkness.

The passageway is narrow and winding, the walls closing in around us like a vise. The air grows thicker with each step, and I can feel the weight of the ancient stone pressing down on us from all sides. But we push on, driven by a sense of desperate urgency.

As we round a sharp bend in the tunnel, I hear a loud crack echo through the passage behind us. The ground shakes violently, and a cloud of dust billows up from somewhere deep beneath our feet. Varikka cries out in pain as she stumbles, her injured ankle giving way beneath her. "Merrin, help me!" she gasps, her voice filled with terror.

I catch her arm, pulling her close as I try to shield her from the falling debris. The tunnel walls shake and shudder around us, sending rocks and dust raining down from above. For a moment, I'm sure that we're about to be crushed beneath the weight of the collapsing passageway.

But then, just as suddenly as it began, the shaking stops. A heavy silence descends over the tunnel, broken only by the sound of our ragged breathing. Varikka clings to me, her body shaking with fear and exhaustion. "Is... is it over?" she asks, her voice barely above a whisper.

I shake my head, my own heart still pounding in my chest. "I don't know," I say, my voice tight with tension. "But we can't stay here. We need to keep moving, find a way out of this place before it collapses completely around us."

So I help Varikka to her feet once again, and together we push forward into the darkness, our footsteps echoing through the ancient stone passage as we search for a way out of this treacherous labyrinth.
