As the ceiling gives way, I feel a massive chunk of stone crash down on top of me, sending me tumbling through the air. I manage to grab onto Varikka's arm, pulling myself up as we both land hard on the rubble-strewn floor. The Guardian's laughter echoes through the chamber, followed by the sound of her sword slicing through the air, mere inches from our heads. Varikka's injured ankle screams in protest as she tries to put weight on it, but we both force ourselves to move, the Time-Splitting Sword clutched tightly in her hand. We scramble towards the narrow opening, the rubble-filled passageway stretching out before us like a treacherous tunnel. The Guardian's pursuit is closing in, and we can hear her heavy breathing as she rounds the corner, her sword raised high. As we squeeze through the opening, I hear the ground give way behind us, sending a wave of debris crashing down on the spot where we were just moments ago. We're forced to keep moving, our hearts racing with every step, as we navigate the treacherous tunnel towards what might be our only chance of escape.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I feel a surge of panic as the ceiling collapses around us, the sound of falling rock filling my ears. I struggle to my feet, my injured ankle screaming in protest, and grab Varikka's arm, pulling her up and towards the narrow opening in the wall.

"Come on, Varikka!" I shout, my voice hoarse with effort as I drag her through the rubble-filled passageway. "We need to keep moving!"

Behind us, I can hear the Guardian's heavy footsteps, the sound of her sword slicing through the air as she pursues us through the collapsing tunnel. I know that it's only a matter of time before she catches up with us, and I can feel the fear rising in my throat.

As we round a corner, I spot a narrow ledge leading up to what looks like another chamber. Without hesitation, I grab Varikka's hand and pull her towards it, my heart pounding in my chest as I scramble up the rocks.

"Merrin, wait!" Varikka calls out, her voice strained with effort as she struggles to keep up. "What are you doing?"

But I don't have time to explain. All that matters is getting out of this place alive, and I know that the Guardian won't stop until she's caught us both.

As we reach the top of the ledge, I hear a loud crack echo through the chamber, followed by the sound of more rock falling from above. I pull Varikka through the opening, my heart racing as I scan the room for any sign of danger.

But as my eyes adjust to the darkness, I realize that we're not alone. Standing in the center of the chamber is a massive stone statue, its features worn and eroded by time. And as I look closer, I can see that it's holding something in its hands - a glowing orb, pulsing with an otherworldly light.

"What is that thing?" Varikka asks, her voice filled with fear as she points to the statue. "And what's that light?"

I shake my head, my mind racing as I try to make sense of what we're seeing. "I don't know," I mutter, my hand reaching for the Time-Splitting Sword at my hip. "But I have a feeling it's not going to be good."

And just then, I hear a sound behind us, the sound of the Guardian's footsteps echoing through the tunnel. I know that we don't have much time left, and as I look back towards the opening, I can see the glow of her sword reflected off the stone walls.

"We need to get out of here now," I whisper, my voice barely audible over the sound of falling rock. "And whatever that thing is, we can't let it fall into the Guardian's hands."

With a deep breath, I step towards the statue, my hand reaching out to grab the glowing orb from its stone grasp. And as my fingers close around it, I feel a sudden surge of energy, like a jolt of electricity coursing through my veins.

"What the..." I mutter, my eyes wide with surprise as I stare down at the orb in my hand. "This thing...it's not like anything I've ever seen before."

And just then, the ground beneath our feet begins to shake, the sound of falling rock growing louder and more intense with each passing moment. Varikka stumbles back, her injured ankle giving way as she loses her balance on the uneven surface.

"Merrin!" she cries out, her voice filled with panic as she reaches out for me. "Help me!"

I reach out to grab her hand, pulling her towards me as I struggle to keep my own footing. And just as we manage to steady ourselves, I hear a loud crack echo through the chamber, followed by the sound of more rock falling from above.

"We need to get out of here now," I shout, my voice hoarse with effort as I drag Varikka towards the far wall. "And whatever that thing is, we can't let it fall into the Guardian's hands."

With a final push, I manage to pull Varikka through the opening, my heart pounding in my chest as we emerge into the cool night air. And as I look back over my shoulder, I see the Guardian's sword flash in the moonlight, her eyes burning with hatred as she lunges towards us, ready to strike.

I know that we're not safe yet, but for now, all that matters is that we're alive. And as we stagger through the rubble-filled tunnel, our hearts racing with every step, I can only pray that whatever lies ahead will be better than what we've left behind.

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

As Merrin pulls me through the narrow opening, I can feel the ground shaking beneath my feet, the sound of falling rock echoing through the chamber behind us. My ankle throbs with pain as we stagger through the rubble-filled tunnel, but I force myself to keep moving, knowing that we can't afford to stop now.

I glance back over my shoulder, my heart racing as I see the Guardian's sword flash in the moonlight, her eyes burning with hatred as she lunges towards us, ready to strike. But just as she's about to land the blow, Merrin's blade slices through the air, meeting the Guardian's weapon in a shower of sparks.

I watch in awe as Merrin parries the attack, her movements fluid and precise despite the pain in her own leg. And as the two of them clash blades once again, I can see the determination in Merrin's eyes, the fierce resolve that has carried us this far.

But even as we fight, I know that it's only a matter of time before the Guardian gets the better of us. My ankle is injured, and Merrin's own movements are slowed by the pain in her leg from earlier. We need to find a way out of this place, and fast.

As Merrin and the Guardian continue their battle, I scan the chamber for any sign of an escape route. And just then, I spot a narrow opening in the far wall, partially hidden behind a pile of rubble.

"Merrin!" I call out, my voice strained with effort as I point towards the opening. "There! Over there! That looks like it could be our way out!"

But before we can make a move towards the exit, I hear a loud crack echo through the chamber, followed by a shower of rocks and debris raining down from above. I shield my face with my free hand, my body tensing as I brace for impact. And then, just like that, the entire ceiling gives way, sending a cascade of stone and rubble crashing down towards us.

"Merrin!" I scream, my voice lost in the chaos of the collapsing chamber. "Run! Get out of there now!"

As the world around us crumbles to pieces, I can only hope that Merrin and I will make it out alive. And as we race towards the narrow opening, the Time-Splitting Sword clutched tightly in my hand, I find myself wondering what other dangers and challenges await us in the depths of this ancient tower.
