Round 758 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As we tumble to the ground, I feel a searing pain in my ankle, and Varikka's voice echoes in my ears, "Merrin! Run! Get out of there now!" The chamber is collapsing around us, rocks and debris raining down from above. The Guardian takes advantage of our distraction, lunging towards us with her sword raised high. I struggle to my feet, my injured ankle screaming in protest, and raise the Time-Splitting Sword to deflect the attack. The blade slices through the air, meeting the Guardian's sword in a shower of sparks, but I know we can't keep this up for much longer. The Guardian's next blow is going to be fatal, and I need to find a way to escape before it's too late.
I feel my heart pounding in my chest as the chamber collapses around us, rocks and debris raining down from above. The Guardian lunges towards us, her blade flashing in the dim light, and I raise the Time-Splitting Sword to meet her attack, the metal clashing together in a shower of sparks.
But even as we fight, I know that it's only a matter of time before the Guardian gets the better of us. Varikka's ankle is injured, and my own movements are slowed by the pain in my leg from earlier. We need to find a way out of this place, and fast.
As the Guardian presses her attack, I catch a glimpse of movement out of the corner of my eye. It's Varikka, limping towards the far wall of the chamber, her eyes scanning the rubble for some sign of an escape route.
"Varikka!" I call out, my voice barely audible over the sound of falling rock. "What are you doing?"
But before Varikka can answer, the Guardian lunges forward once again, her blade slicing through the air towards my throat. I manage to deflect the blow at the last second, but the force of the impact sends me stumbling backwards, my foot catching on a loose stone.
I feel myself falling, the world spinning around me as I tumble to the ground. The Time-Splitting Sword clatters out of my grasp, skittering across the chamber floor and coming to rest at Varikka's feet. And as I struggle to get back up, my ankle screaming in pain, I see the Guardian turn her attention towards Varikka, a cruel smile twisting her lips.
"Foolish mortals," she sneers, her voice dripping with malice. "You thought you could escape me? You'll never leave this place alive!"
I watch in horror as the Guardian advances on Varikka, her blade raised high above her head. And even though I know that it's hopeless, I force myself to my feet, my hand reaching out for the Time-Splitting Sword.
"Varikka!" I call out, my voice hoarse with effort. "Run! Get out of here now!"
But even as the words leave my mouth, I know that it's too late. The Guardian is upon us, her blade flashing in the dim light, and I can only pray that somehow, someway, we'll find a way to survive this nightmare.
As Merrin calls out to me, I can see the Guardian lunging towards her, her blade flashing in the dim light of the chamber. I reach down and grab the Time-Splitting Sword from where it lies at my feet, my hand gripping the hilt tightly as I force myself to my feet, my injured ankle screaming in protest.
I limping towards the far wall of the chamber, my eyes scanning the rubble for some sign of an escape route. And just as I'm about to give up hope, I spot a narrow opening in the stone, partially hidden behind a pile of fallen rocks.
"Merrin!" I call out, my voice strained with effort as I point towards the opening. "There! Over there! That looks like it could be our way out!"
But before we can make a move towards the exit, I hear a loud crack echo through the chamber, followed by a shower of rocks and debris raining down from above. I shield my face with my free hand, my body tensing as I brace for impact. And then, just like that, the entire ceiling gives way, sending a cascade of stone and rubble crashing down towards us.
"Merrin!" I scream, my voice lost in the chaos of the collapsing chamber. "Run! Get out of there now!"
As the world around us crumbles to pieces, I can only hope that Merrin and I will make it out alive. And as we race towards the narrow opening, the Time-Splitting Sword clutched tightly in my hand, I find myself wondering what other dangers and challenges await us in the depths of this ancient tower.
But for now, all that matters is getting out of this place alive. And as I feel the weight of the rubble pressing down on me from above, I can only pray that we'll find a way to survive this nightmare.
