Merrin's foot slips on loose debris, sending her stumbling towards the edge of the chasm. She manages to catch herself at the last moment, her heart racing with fear. Varikka's injured ankle protests with every step she takes, making her lean heavily on Merrin for support. As they continue through the collapsing passageway, the ground shudders violently, causing a section of the wall to collapse behind them. The darkness is total, and they're forced to rely on their other senses to navigate. The sound of The Guardian's heavy footsteps grows louder, echoing off the walls as she pursues them through the ruins. Suddenly, Merrin stumbles again, her foot catching on a jagged piece of rubble. Varikka's grip on her arm tightens, her face etched with concern. "Be careful, Merrin! We can't afford to slip up now!"

I let out a yelp of alarm as I stumble, my heart leaping into my throat as I feel myself teetering on the brink of the chasm. Varikka's strong grip is the only thing that keeps me from pitching forward into the darkness. "Thanks," I mutter, my voice shaky as I steady myself against the wall. "That was too close."

Varikka nods grimly, her hand still tight on my arm as she helps me regain my balance. "We need to watch our step," she says, her voice strained with pain and urgency. "This place is coming down around us faster than a landslide."

I nod, my mind racing as I try to remember the layout of the tower from our earlier explorations. The fountain with the mermaids and whales - that was in the main foyer, near the entrance. If we can find that, we might be able to navigate our way out. "Varikka," I say, my voice low and urgent. "The fountain. If we can find it, it might help us orient ourselves. It's in the main foyer, near the entrance."

Varikka's face lights up with relief. "Good thinking," she says, her voice filled with gratitude. "Let's keep moving. And watch your step, Merrin. We can't afford to slip up now."

I let out a low growl of frustration as I watch Merrin stumble, my heart leaping into my throat at the sight of her teetering on the brink of the chasm. The sound of the Guardian's heavy footsteps grows louder in the darkness, and I can feel the ground shifting beneath our feet with each passing moment.

"Damn it, Merrin," I mutter under my breath, my hand tightening on the hilt of my blade as I try to steady myself. "We need to watch our step. This place is coming down around us faster than a landslide."

But even as I say the words, a sense of determination washes over me. We've come too far to turn back now - and I'm not about to let this crumbling ruin beat us.

"Alright, let's keep moving," I say, my voice low and steady as I help Merrin regain her balance. "The fountain is our best bet. If we can find it, we might be able to navigate our way out of this mess."

I take a deep breath, steeling myself for the challenge ahead as I try to ignore the pain in my injured ankle. "But we need to be careful," I add, my voice filled with urgency. "That Guardian is still hot on our heels, and we can't afford to slip up now. Stick close to me, Merrin, and watch your step. We'll get through this together."

With that, I start to make my way through the darkness, my blade at the ready as I scan the shadows for any sign of danger. The ground shifts beneath my feet, and I can hear the sound of rubble falling in the distance, but I push forward, determined to find a way out of this nightmare.
