Round 747 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

The Guardian's heavy footsteps echo through the passageway, growing louder with each step. The ground shudders again, and a section of the wall collapses, sending a shower of rubble down the corridor. Merrin and Varikka barely avoid being crushed, their torches extinguished in the process. The air is thick with dust and decay.
I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding as we make our way through the darkness, my senses on high alert for any sign of danger. The ground shudders again, and I can hear the sound of rubble crashing down somewhere in the distance.
"This place is coming down around us faster than a house of cards in a hurricane," I mutter under my breath, my hand tightening on the hilt of my blade. "But we can't afford to let our guard down. Not with that Guardian still hot on our heels."
I can hear Varikka's labored breathing as she struggles to keep up, her injured ankle clearly causing her pain. But I know we can't stop - not if we want to survive this nightmare.
"We need to find a way out of here," I say firmly, my voice barely audible over the rumbling of the collapsing ruins. "And we need to do it fast."
I take a step forward, only to stumble as the ground beneath my feet shifts, sending me careening towards the edge of what feels like a deep chasm. I manage to catch myself at the last moment, my heart pounding in my chest as I realize just how close I came to falling to my death.
"Varikka, be careful!" I call out, my voice shaking with fear. "The ground is unstable. We need to watch our step."
But even as I speak the words, a sense of dread washes over me. In the darkness, everything feels different - the walls, the floor, the air. And with each passing moment, the chances of us finding our way out grow slimmer and slimmer.
"Varikka," I say, my voice trembling slightly. "I don't know if we're going to make it. This place is coming down around us faster than a house of cards in a hurricane."
Varikka lets out a low chuckle, but there's no humor in it. "We'll make it," she says firmly, squeezing my hand. "We have to. We've come too far to turn back now."
I let out a low groan as I struggle to maintain my balance in the darkness, my injured ankle throbbing with each step. "This is madness," I mutter under my breath, my voice strained with pain and frustration.
But even as I say the words, I know that we have no choice. We can't afford to stop - not with the Guardian still hot on our heels and the entire tower coming down around us.
"Merrin," I say, my voice low and urgent. "We need to find a way out of here. And we need to do it fast."
I can hear Merrin's labored breathing as she struggles to keep up, her own injuries clearly taking their toll. "I know," she pants, her words barely audible over the rumbling of the collapsing ruins. "But how? Everything looks the same in this damn darkness. And with my ankle the way it is, I can't even trust my own two feet."
I nod grimly, my hand tightening on the hilt of my blade as I try to remember the layout of the tower from our earlier explorations. "We need to find a way back to the main foyer," I say firmly, my voice filled with determination. "It's our best chance of finding an exit that isn't blocked by rubble or collapsed walls."
But even as I speak the words, a sense of dread washes over me. In the darkness, everything feels different - the walls, the floor, the air. And with each passing moment, the chances of us finding our way out grow slimmer and slimmer.
"Merrin," I say, my voice trembling slightly. "I don't know if we're going to make it. This place is coming down around us faster than a landslide."
Merrin lets out a low chuckle, but there's no humor in it. "We'll make it," she says firmly, squeezing my hand. "We have to. We've come too far to turn back now."
