Round 743 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin helps Varikka to her feet, the ground beneath them shudders violently once more. A loud rumbling noise echoes through the ruin, making it difficult for them to hear each other's voices. Suddenly, a chunk of debris crashes down just inches from Varikka's head, sending her scrambling to avoid it. Merrin quickly grabs onto Varikka's arm, steadying her as she stumbles backwards. The force of the impact sends dust and ash billowing through the passageway, reducing visibility to mere feet. "We have to keep moving!" Merrin yells above the din, her grip on Varikka's arm tightening. Varikka winces in pain as she tests her weight on her injured ankle, but nods grimly in agreement. The pair begins to move forward once more, their eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of further danger.
I let out a gasp of surprise as the chunk of debris crashes down just inches from Varikka's head, my heart leaping into my throat at the close call. The ground beneath our feet is shaking violently now, sending clouds of dust and ash billowing through the passageway and making it hard to see.
"Varikka!" I cry out, my voice hoarse with fear as I reach out a hand to steady her. "Are you alright? That was too close for comfort!"
Varikka nods grimly, her eyes wide with alarm as she clutches at her mace. "I'm fine," she grunts, wincing slightly as she tests her weight on her injured ankle. "But we can't afford to let our guard down for even a second. The whole place could come crashing down on top of us at any moment."
I nod in agreement, my hand tightening on the hilt of my blade as I scan the shadows for any sign of further danger. "You're right," I mutter, my voice low and urgent. "We need to keep moving - find a way out of this place before it's too late.
I grit my teeth against the pain as Merrin helps me to my feet, my injured ankle throbbing with each step. The ground beneath us is shaking violently now, sending clouds of dust and ash billowing through the passageway and making it hard to see.
"You're right," I mutter grimly, tightening my grip on my mace as I scan the shadows for any sign of further danger. "We need to keep moving - find a way out of this place before it's too late."
But even as I speak the words, a sense of dread washes over me. The passageway just keeps going on and on, like it's never going to end. And with each passing moment, the chances of us finding an escape route grow slimmer and slimmer.
I turn to Merrin, my eyes narrowed with concern. "How much further do you think we have to go? Can you see any way out ahead?"
Merrin shakes her head, her face pale and drawn in the flickering torchlight. "I don't know," she whispers, her voice hoarse with fear. "The passageway just keeps going on and on - like it's never going to end."
I let out a sharp breath, my heart sinking at the news. If Merrin can't see a way out, then we may be trapped here for good - buried alive beneath the ruins of this ancient tower.
But I can't let fear get the better of me. We have to keep going - to find some way out before it's too late. And so I turn and lead the way deeper into the passageway, my senses on high alert for any sign of trouble.
This is our only chance.
