Merrin and Varikka tumble through the narrow opening, their footsteps echoing off the crumbling walls as they desperately seek shelter from the Guardian's pursuit. The air is thick with dust and ash, making every breath a struggle. As they emerge on the other side, the ground shudders violently beneath their feet, sending rocks tumbling down from above. A chunk of debris crashes down just inches from Merrin's head, sending her scrambling for cover. Varikka grabs Merrin's arm, pulling her toward a nearby alcove. "In here!" she yells, her voice barely audible over the din. The Guardian's furious roar echoes through the wasteland as she bursts into the area, her eyes fixed intently on Merrin.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I can barely catch my breath as Varikka pulls me into the alcove, the Guardian's furious roar still echoing through the wasteland behind us. I can feel my heart pounding in my chest, my hands trembling as I grip my mace tightly.

But even with the adrenaline still coursing through my veins, I know we're not safe yet. The ground continues to shake beneath our feet, sending rocks and debris tumbling down from above. And somewhere out there in the ruins, the Guardian is still on our trail - hunting us down like prey.

I turn to Varikka, my eyes wide with fear as I try to formulate a plan. "We can't stay here," I whisper, my voice barely audible over the din. "The Guardian will find us eventually. We need to keep moving - find a way out of this place before it's too late."

I scan the shadows of the alcove, searching for any sign of an exit. There - a narrow passageway leading deeper into the ruins, just barely visible in the darkness. It's our only chance.

I take a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever may lie ahead as I turn to Varikka with a nod. "This way," I say, my voice trembling slightly. "We need to keep moving - and pray that we can find a way out of this forsaken place before it's too late."

With that, I take a step into the passageway, my hand resting on the hilt of my blade as I lead Varikka deeper into the heart of this twisted world. The Guardian may be close behind us, but something tells me that the true test of our courage is still to come - and I'll be damned if I let anything stop us from facing it together.

I nod grimly at Merrin's assessment of our dire situation, my heart still pounding from our narrow escape from the Guardian's clutches. The alcove we're huddled in is small and cramped, the air thick with dust and ash from the collapsed ruins outside. I can feel the weight of Merrin on my back as she clings to me, her breath coming in short gasps. "You're right," I mutter, my voice low and grim. "We can't stay here - not if we want to live to see another day in this godforsaken place."

I shift my weight, testing the strength of my injured ankle as I prepare to move. The pain is still there, a dull throb that radiates up my leg with each step, but it's manageable for now. I know we need to keep moving if we want to have any chance of survival.

I turn to Merrin, my eyes narrowing as I scan the shadows of the alcove for any sign of danger. "Let's move out," I say, my voice firm and decisive. "Stay close behind me, and watch your step - these ruins are unstable at best. And keep your eyes peeled for any sign of that Guardian - I have a feeling she won't be far behind."

With that, I take a deep breath and step out into the narrow passageway, my mace at the ready and my senses on high alert. The air is thick with dust and the stench of decay, but I can't afford to let it slow me down. We need to find a way out of this place - and fast - before the ruins collapse entirely and bury us alive.

I know the odds are against us, but I also know that we have no choice but to keep fighting. To keep moving forward, no matter what horrors this twisted world may have in store for us next. "Stay strong," I mutter to Merrin as we make our way deeper into the heart of the ruins. "We'll find a way out of this - or die trying."
