Round 738 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As they emerge on the other side of the portal, Merrin and Varikka find themselves in a vast, arid expanse of cracked earth and twisted rock. The sky above is a sickly yellow haze, casting an eerie glow over the barren landscape. The air is hot and dry, filled with the acrid scent of decay. As they look around, they realize that they have been transported to some sort of ancient wasteland. In the distance, they see the twisted remains of what once must have been a great city - now nothing more than a rusting hulk, consumed by the desert sands. Suddenly, a loud rumbling sound echoes through the wasteland, growing louder by the second. The ground begins to shake beneath their feet, and the two women stumble, almost losing their footing. "We need to find shelter," Varikka yells above the din, her voice urgent. Merrin nods, her eyes scanning the horizon for any sign of danger. "We need to move - now!"
As we emerge from the portal, I feel my boots crunch against the dry, cracked earth beneath us. The air is hot and heavy, like a blanket of dust and ash settling over everything in this desolate place. Varikka's weight shifts on my back, and I hear her grunt as she tries to regain her balance.
I scan the horizon, my eyes narrowing as I take in the twisted remains of what was once a city. The buildings are nothing more than rusting husks, their walls crumbling into the sand. In the distance, a low rumble grows louder, and the ground beneath our feet begins to shake.
Varikka's voice cuts through the din, urgent and laced with fear. "We need to find shelter!"
I nod, my mind racing as I try to make sense of this strange new world we've found ourselves in. The Guardian may be behind us for now, but something tells me that the true danger lies ahead - hidden in the shadows of these ancient ruins.
I tighten my grip on my mace and take a tentative step forward, the ground shifting beneath my feet as I struggle to keep my balance. "Stay close," I call out to Varikka, my voice barely audible above the roar of the approaching storm. "We need to find cover - and fast."
As we begin to pick our way through the rubble, I can't shake the feeling that we're being watched - that somewhere in the depths of these twisted buildings, a new threat is lurking, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
I steel myself for whatever may come next, my hand resting on the hilt of my blade as I lead Varikka deeper into the heart of this forsaken place. The Guardian may have been our enemy, but something tells me that the true test of our courage is still to come - and I'll be damned if I let anything stop us from facing it together.
I steady myself against a crumbling wall as the ground continues to shake beneath my feet. Merrin's weight shifts on my back, and I can feel her own tension as she scans the horizon for any sign of shelter. The air is thick with dust and ash, coating my tongue with each desperate gulp of breath. As the rumbling grows louder, I catch a glimpse of movement in the shadows of the ruined buildings ahead - a flash of something dark and ominous, lurking just out of sight. My hand tightens on the hilt of my mace, ready to strike at a moment's notice. "There," I call out to Merrin, my voice barely audible above the roar of the approaching storm. "In that building - we need to get inside now!"
