As the portal's light envelops them, the air around Merrin and Varikka begins to distort, like ripples on a pond. The glowing liquid vial in their inventory starts to glow brighter, as if reacting to the energy emanating from the portal. Suddenly, the vial shatters, releasing a tiny, shimmering shard that floats towards the portal.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

The shard of glowing liquid floats toward the portal, its light pulsing in time with the swirling mist. Merrin's eyes follow its path, her brow furrowed in concentration as she tries to make sense of what's happening. "It's reacting to the portal," she murmurs, more to herself than to Varikka. "The energy... it must be drawn to it."

Varikka nods, her grip on Merrin's back tightening as the air around them continues to distort. "What do you think will happen when it reaches the other side?"

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

My eyes fix on the shard of glowing liquid as it drifts towards the portal's swirling surface. The air crackles with energy, and I can feel a strange pull emanating from the portal, like an invisible current drawing us in.

Varikka's question hangs in the air between us, and I find myself struggling to find an answer. What will happen when the shard reaches the other side? Will it react with whatever force is powering this gateway, or will it be lost to us forever in some otherworldly realm?

I take a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves as I turn to face Varikka. "I don't know what will happen," I admit, my voice quiet. "But I do know that we can't stay here. The Guardian is still out there, and the tower is crumbling around us. We have to keep moving forward, no matter the risk."

Varikka nods, her grip on my back tightening as she braces herself for whatever may come next. "You're right," she says, her voice laced with determination. "We've come this far - we can't turn back now."

With a deep breath, I turn back to the portal, my mace at the ready as I prepare to step through. The shard of glowing liquid hovers just inches from the swirling surface, its light pulsing in time with the energy emanating from beyond.

I take a tentative step forward, my heart pounding in my chest as I feel the pull of the portal's power washing over me. "Hold on tight," I murmur to Varikka, my voice barely above a whisper. "Here we go..."

And with that, we take that final step into the unknown, the shard of glowing liquid disappearing into the swirling mist as the portal's light envelops us completely. For a moment, everything is still - and then, with a rush of energy that sends us tumbling forward, we emerge on the other side, our world turned upside down as we struggle to regain our footing in this strange new realm.
