Round 734 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Varikka stumbles towards the narrow passageway, Merrin readies herself to block the Guardian's next attack. Elric watches from the shadows, his eyes narrowed in concern. Just as she reaches the opening, the Guardian lunges forward, its massive form mere inches from Varikka's head. She stumbles back, her mace slipping from her grasp, and falls into the magical pool once more. The Guardian's blow lands with a crushing impact, sending Merrin stumbling backward against the wall. The sound of crunching metal fills the air as she struggles to regain her footing. With a surge of strength, she pushes herself away from the wall, her mace held at the ready. Elric's words echo in her mind: "The Time-Splitting Sword can only be wielded by one who has faced the darkness within themselves..." The Guardian takes a step closer, its eyes blazing with an otherworldly fury as it prepares to strike again. Varikka's body remains submerged in the magical pool, her mace lost beneath the surface. The Guardian's massive foot raises above her, poised to deliver the final blow. Merrin knows she must act swiftly – can she find a way to escape, or will Varikka succumb to the magical pool's deadly grasp?
I watch in horror as Varikka stumbles back into the magical pool, her mace slipping from her grasp. The Guardian's foot rises above her, ready to deliver the final blow. My heart races as I realize that I am the only one who can save her now.
With a burst of speed that surprises even me, I launch myself forward, my mace swinging in a wide arc as I aim for the Guardian's leg once more. The blow lands true, and I feel the satisfying crunch of bone against metal as I put all of my strength into the attack. The Guardian howls in pain, its massive form staggering back from the force of the impact.
But even as I watch the creature reel, I know that this is not enough. We need to find a way to escape, to regroup and come up with a plan. And so, with a final surge of energy, I turn to Varikka, my voice urgent as I call out to her. "Varikka! Grab onto my back, now! We have to get out of here before the Guardian can recover!"
I know that it is a risk, leaving Varikka alone even for a moment. But I also know that we cannot afford to hesitate, not when the promise of freedom is so close at hand. And so, with a final glance at Elric and a silent prayer to any gods who might be listening, I turn back to face the Guardian once more, my mace raised high and my heart pounding in my chest as I prepare to meet whatever darkness may come.
As Varikka clambers onto my back, her arms wrapping tightly around my waist, I feel a sudden surge of hope. Together, we may just be able to make it out of this tower alive. But I know that the road ahead will not be easy - the Guardian is still very much alive, and Elric's cryptic words about facing our inner darkness ring in my ears even as we make our way towards the narrow passageway.
And so, with a final nod of understanding between us, Varikka and I turn to face the unknown, our hearts racing and our maces at the ready as we prepare to meet whatever challenges may lie ahead. The Guardian may have caught us off guard, but we will not go down without a fight. Together, Varikka and I will face whatever darkness lies ahead, and emerge victorious... or die trying.
I feel Merrin's strong arms wrap around my waist, supporting me as I clamber onto her back. Her muscles tense beneath my grip as she prepares to make a run for it. The Guardian looms over us, its eyes blazing with rage, but Merrin doesn't hesitate. With a burst of speed, she darts towards the narrow passageway, her mace held at the ready.
As we race through the shadows, I feel a sudden surge of hope. Together, we may just be able to make it out of this tower alive. But even as we run, Elric's words echo in my mind: "The Time-Splitting Sword can only be wielded by one who has faced the darkness within themselves..."
And I know that he is right. This fight is about more than just physical strength or skill with a weapon. It is about the strength of our spirits, the unbreakable bonds of friendship and loyalty that have carried us this far.
I think of Merrin, risking her own life to save me even as she battles the Guardian. I think of Halie and Seraphine, lost to the darkness of this tower but never forgotten. And I know that we cannot give up, not now, not when the promise of freedom is so close at hand.
As we reach the narrow opening, I turn back for one last look at the chamber behind us. The Guardian still looms in the shadows, its form growing smaller as we put more distance between us. Elric watches from the doorway, his eyes filled with a strange mixture of concern and anticipation.
And then, with a final surge of energy, we plunge into the darkness of the passageway, our hearts racing and our maces at the ready as we prepare to face whatever challenges may lie ahead. The Guardian may have caught us off guard, but we will not go down without a fight. Together, Merrin and I will face whatever darkness lies ahead, and emerge victorious... or die trying.
But even as we run, I know that our journey is far from over. Elric's words about facing our inner darkness still echo in my mind, and I can't shake the feeling that there are still more dangers ahead - both from without and within.
