As the Guardian's body falls to the ground, its sword arm dangling limply at its side, Varikka approaches it cautiously. "Is it dead?" she asks, her voice laced with a mix of relief and trepidation. Merrin nods, her eyes scanning the room for any signs of danger. Suddenly, a faint hissing sound echoes through the chamber, growing louder by the second. The air begins to vibrate with a noxious gas that seems to be seeping in from outside, threatening to fill the room. Varikka's eyes widen in alarm as she realizes that the structural collapse imminent in the new area is now affecting their location, and they must act fast to escape the deadly gas before it's too late.

As the Guardian's body crumples to the ground, I feel a wave of relief wash over me. We did it. We actually defeated that thing. But my relief is short-lived as a hissing sound fills the air, growing louder by the second.

"Varikka!" I shout, my voice straining with urgency.* "We need to get out of here now! The structural collapse is affecting this area too!"

I can see the noxious gas seeping in from outside, filling the room and threatening to engulf us. My heart races as I try to remember if there were any other exits in this chamber besides the one we entered through.

"There!" I point to a small, hidden door on the far side of the room, partially obscured by ancient artifacts.* "That might be our way out!"

Varikka nods, her eyes wide with fear as she follows me towards the door. The gas grows thicker with each passing second, burning my lungs and making it harder to breathe.

As we reach the door, I can see that it's locked, a heavy iron bolt sealing it shut. I rummage through my pack, searching for my lockpicks, but my hands are shaking so much from the noxious gas that it's hard to grip them properly.

"Varikka!" I cough, my voice hoarse.* "Can you hold the door while I try to pick the lock? I don't know how much longer I can stay conscious in this gas!"

Varikka nods, her hands gripping the door handle tightly as she braces herself against the wall. I take a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves as I insert the lockpicks into the keyhole.

This is going to be tricky. The lock is old and rusted, and I can feel my strength fading with each passing second as the gas fills the room. But I have to do this. We have to get out of here alive.
