Round 703 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As we plummet down the narrow shaft, the rope creaks ominously overhead, threatening to snap at any moment under our combined weight. The Guardian's sword glows brighter, illuminating the dark shaft and casting eerie shadows on the walls. I grit my teeth and tighten my grip on Merrin's waist to keep her steady. "Hold on, Merrin!" I shout over the din of falling debris. Suddenly, the air is filled with the sound of rushing water, and we begin to pick up speed. The noxious gas continues to fill our lungs, making it difficult to breathe. Our faces are set in determined expressions as we face the unknown depths below.
As we plummet down the narrow shaft, I feel my heart racing in my chest. The rope creaks ominously overhead, threatening to snap at any moment under our combined weight. Varikka's grip on my waist tightens, her fingers digging into my skin through the fabric of my leathers.
I try to focus on her touch, on the warmth of her body pressed against mine as we fall. But it's hard to think straight with the noxious gas still burning in my lungs and the pain in my ankle sending waves of fire up my leg with each jolt and bounce.
And then, suddenly, I hear it - the sound of rushing water filling the air around us. We're picking up speed, the shaft growing narrower and more treacherous with each passing second. The walls seem to be closing in from all sides, the shadows of the Guardian's sword dancing across their surface as we descend into the unknown depths below.
I let out a gasp, my fingers clawing at Varikka's arm as I try to steady myself. "Varikka!" I shout over the din of falling debris. "We need to find a way to slow our descent! We're going too fast!"
But even as I say the words, I know they're futile. The rope is stretched taut, threatening to snap at any moment under our combined weight. And with the noxious gas still filling our lungs, it's becoming harder and harder to think straight.
I feel a wave of panic wash over me, my breath coming in short, labored gasps as I try to fight back the urge to give in to the darkness that's closing in around us. "Varikka," I manage to choke out between coughs. "I...I don't know if I can hold on much longer. We need to do something!"
And with that, I close my eyes and let the darkness take me, praying that whatever awaits us at the bottom of this shaft will be better than what we've left behind.
