Round 700 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Merrin and Varika find themselves suspended in mid-air, the Guardian's sword still clutched tightly in Varika's hand. The rope has slowed their descent, but they are now precariously balanced, with the sword hanging loose in Varika's grasp. The noxious gas continues to fill their lungs, making every breath a struggle. As they hang suspended, the chamber around them begins to shake and tremble, the structural collapse imminent growing more apparent by the second. The sound of crashing stone and crumbling debris fills the air, echoing off the walls.
I let out a gasp of relief as Varikka's quick thinking saves us from plummeting into the depths below. The rope creaks ominously overhead as it stretches taut under our combined weight, but it seems to be holding for now.
But as we dangle there, suspended in mid-air, I can feel the noxious gas burning in my lungs with each ragged breath. My head spins, and I struggle to stay focused on the present moment. "Varikka," I manage to choke out between coughs. "We need to...to find a way out of here. The gas...it's too thick."
I try to reach for her, my hand stretching out towards hers where it grips the Guardian's sword. But the movement sends a jolt of pain through my injured ankle, and I let out a yelp of pain. "Ow! Damn it..."
Varikka's eyes dart to mine, concern etched in their depths. "Merrin? Are you alright?" She shifts her weight, trying to adjust our balance on the rope, but the movement only makes the sword's glow intensify, sending a shower of sparks down around us.
I shake my head, wincing at the motion. "No, I...I don't think so. My ankle..." I gesture weakly towards where it throbs against the rough stone wall, the pain making it difficult to even think straight.
As we hang there, suspended in that precarious position, I can feel the noxious gas continuing to fill my lungs with each passing second. The air grows thicker, more oppressive, as if the very walls are closing in around us. "Varikka," I whisper, my voice hoarse and strained. "We...we need to move. Now."
