The chamber's silence feels heavy, charged with unspoken dread. Merrin edges closer to Varrika, her crossbow trained on the darkness beyond the partially open doorway. The halfling rogue's dark eyes scan the shadows relentlessly, every muscle in her wiry frame coiled and ready for action. She glances back at Varrika, concern evident in her expression as she whispers, "Stay close to the wall. We don't know what's waiting in there." Across the room, Varikka leans heavily against the cold stone wall, gritting her teeth against the pain that shoots up her leg with each tiny movement. The dwarf woman's scarred face is slick with sweat, her breathing labored as she fights to maintain her balance. She nods grimly at Merrin's warning, her hand tightening on her mace. "Aye," she mutters, her eyes scanning the shadows beyond the door. "Something's not right here." The ground beneath them rumbles again—a low, ominous growl that seems to vibrate up from the very foundations of the ancient stone chamber. Merrin feels a sudden rush of unease wash over her as she grips the door handle. The air feels thick with tension, and she can't shake the feeling that they're being watched. "Varrika," she hisses urgently, "something's wrong. Stay sharp." She takes a deep breath, steeling herself for whatever horrors may lie ahead. With a final glance at Varrika, she steps forward, her weight heavy on her injured ankle. The pain is excruciating, but she knows they don't have time to waste. They need to find that sword, and they need to do it quickly.
