The Guardian's voice booms through the chamber, "You think you can escape me that easily? Think again, mortals!" The ground beneath Varikka's feet gives a ominous creak, and she stumbles, her sprained ankle throbbing in pain. The key in her hand slips from her grasp, landing on the stone floor with a faint clink. As she struggles to regain her balance, Merrin readies her crossbow, eyeing the darkness beyond the door with suspicion.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I watch Varikka stumble, her hand slipping on the key. "Varikka!" I call out, my voice sharp with concern. I quickly dart forward, snatching up the key before it can skitter away into the shadows. As I straighten up, I hear the Guardian's ominous words echoing through the chamber, and a chill runs down my spine. "Stay alert," I murmur to Varikka, my eyes scanning the darkness beyond the door. "Whatever's in there, it's not going to be happy to see us."

I take a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever lies ahead. With a quick glance at Varikka, I reach out and grasp the key tightly, ready to face whatever horrors this accursed place has in store for us. [END TURN]

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

Dammit all! I nearly lose my balance as the ground shifts beneath my feet, the pain in my ankle surging through my body. I watch helplessly as the key slips from my grasp, clattering onto the stone floor. "Merrin! The key!" I call out, my voice ragged with pain and frustration. I take a step towards her, but my injured ankle gives way and I stumble, nearly falling to the ground. Merrin is at my side in an instant, her hand steadying me. "Easy there, Varrika," she says, her voice low and soothing. "We need to get you out of here."

I nod, gritting my teeth as I try to put weight on my ankle. The pain is excruciating, but I know we don't have time to waste. "Aye, let's go," I say, reaching for the key. But as I do, a deep, ominous rumble echoes through the chamber, and I freeze. "What in the nine hells was that?" I mutter, my heart pounding in my chest. Merrin's eyes narrow as she scans the darkness beyond the door. "I don't know," she says slowly. "But it doesn't sound good."

I take a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever lies ahead. With a nod to Merrin, I grab the key, ready to face whatever horrors this accursed place has in store for us.
