Round 674 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

The Guardian's voice booms through the chamber, "You think you can escape me that easily? Think again, mortals!" The ground beneath their feet gives a ominous creak, and a section of the wall behind them begins to collapse, sending a fresh wave of rubble tumbling towards Merrin and Varikka. They dodge to the side as the debris crashes down, narrowly avoiding the worst of it. As the dust settles, they see that the section of wall has revealed a hidden compartment, and inside, a small, intricately carved key is nestled on a bed of velvet. The key seems to be pulsing with a soft, blue light, matching the symbols on the stone door behind the tattered tapestry.
By Moradin's beard! I duck and roll out of the way just in time as the wall collapses behind us, sending rubble flying everywhere. My heart is pounding in my chest as I come up in a crouch, crossbow at the ready. "That was too close," I mutter, scanning the area for any more threats. As the dust settles, I catch sight of something glinting in the shadows. Squinting, I make out the shape of a small, intricately carved key nestled in a hidden compartment revealed by the collapsed wall. The key seems to be pulsing with a soft, blue light, matching the symbols on the stone door behind the tattered tapestry. "Varikka," I whisper, keeping my voice low. "Look over there. I think that key might be our ticket out of here." I nod towards the hidden compartment, my eyes never leaving the shadows. The dwarf warrior nods, her mace raised high and ready for whatever horrors might lie ahead. Together, we make our way towards the key, each step bringing us closer to the source of the faint glow. As we approach, I can feel the weight of the Guardian's gaze upon us, as if he's watching our every move. Suddenly, a low growl emanates from the shadows beyond the door, and I tense, my finger tightening on the trigger of my crossbow. "Stay alert," I murmur to Varikka, my eyes scanning the darkness for any sign of movement. "Whatever's in there, it's not going to be happy to see us."
I take a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever lies ahead. With a quick glance at Varikka, I reach out and grab the key, ready to face whatever horrors this accursed place has in store for us.
By the gods! I nearly jump out of my skin as the wall collapses behind us, sending rubble flying everywhere. My heart is pounding in my chest as I come up in a crouch, mace at the ready. "That was too close," I mutter, scanning the area for any more threats. As the dust settles, Merrin calls out to me, her voice tight with tension. "Varikka, look over there. I think that key might be our ticket out of here." I follow her gaze and see a small, intricately carved key nestled in a hidden compartment revealed by the collapsed wall. The key seems to be pulsing with a soft, blue light, matching the symbols on the stone door behind the tattered tapestry. I nod, my eyes never leaving the shadows. "Aye, that looks like it could be important." I take a step towards the key, but then freeze as a low growl emanates from the darkness beyond the door. My heart leaps into my throat as I tense, ready for whatever horror might come our way. Merrin's right. Something's not right here. But we don't have much choice. We need to get out of this accursed place before it collapses on top of us. "Stay alert," I murmur to Merrin, my eyes scanning the darkness for any sign of movement. "Whatever's in there, it's not going to be happy to see us."
