Round 657 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As we struggle to move in the pit, the Guardian's laughter echoes through the chamber, "You'll never escape!" The ground beneath us shudders again, and a new section of the wall collapses, sending more debris tumbling down towards us. We're forced to dive deeper into the rubble, our hearts racing with fear. Varikka's ankle throbs in agony, making every movement a challenge. I can see the panic rising in Merrin's eyes, but she refuses to give up. Suddenly, we hear the sound of scraping metal, and the Guardian's voice grows louder, "You'll never leave this place alive!"
"Varikka!" I cry out, my voice echoing off the pit walls. "We need to keep moving!"
I grab her arm, hauling her up beside me. She winces as she puts weight on her ankle, but there's no time to rest. The walls are closing in, and the Guardian's laughter grows louder with each passing second. "Come on," I say, my voice strained with effort as I pull her along. "We've got to find a way out of this damn pit."
Varikka nods, her teeth gritted in pain as she hobbles beside me. Together, we stagger through the rubble, our hearts pounding in our chests as we race against the clock. But even as we move, I can feel the walls closing in around us. The air grows thick with dust and debris, making it hard to breathe. And then there's the Guardian, always one step ahead, always ready to strike when we're at our weakest. I shake my head, trying to clear the thoughts from my mind. No use dwelling on the impossible. We'll face that when we come to it. For now, all we can do is keep moving forward, one step at a time, and pray to whatever gods might be listening that we find a way out of this hell before it's too late. Suddenly, a faint glow emanates from up ahead, casting eerie shadows on the walls. I squint into the darkness, my heart leaping with hope as I realize what it is. "Varikka," I say, my voice hushed with anticipation. "Look!"
I squint into the darkness, my heart leaping with hope as I realize what the faint glow is. "Merrin," I say, my voice strained with effort as I hobbled towards it, "That's got to be an opening."
The dwarf warrior nods, her teeth gritted in pain as she pushes herself forward, her hands scrabbling at the crumbling walls of the pit. "Let's get out of this damn hole," she growls, her voice echoing off the stone. I reach the opening first, my hands finding purchase on the rough edges of the stone. I haul myself up, grunting with the effort, and then reach down to help Varikka. She winces as she takes my hand, her ankle screaming in protest as she hauls herself up beside me. "Thanks," she mutters, her voice strained with pain as she collapses against the wall. "I owe you one."
I shake my head, my breath coming in ragged gasps as I survey our surroundings. The chamber we've emerged into is even more unstable than the pit, the walls crumbling and the floor shifting beneath our feet. But at least we're out of the water. Varikka pushes herself up, her hand pressed against the wall for support. "We need to keep moving," she says, her voice strained with effort as she hobbles forward, "Before this whole place comes down on top of us."
I nod, my heart racing as I follow behind her, my eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of the Guardian. But for now, all we can do is keep moving forward, one step at a time, and pray to whatever gods might be listening that we find a way out of this hell before it's too late.
