Round 655 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Varikka's cry of pain echoes through the chamber as she falls hard onto the rocky floor, her ankle twisted at an awkward angle. The Guardian's laughter echoes through the pit, "You'll never escape!" The ground beneath them shifts and heaves, sending stones tumbling down the walls. A chunk of rubble crashes against Varikka's mace, sending it clattering to the ground. Varikka's face is pale and drawn, her breath coming in ragged gasps as she clutches her ankle. Merrin's hands are already reaching for her injured leg, trying to steady her. The torch in Merrin's hand flickers precariously, casting eerie shadows on the walls. The air is thick with dust and debris, making it difficult to see or move. A deep rumble echoes through the chamber, making it harder to breathe. The Guardian's laughter grows louder, more taunting. Varikka's eyes are fixed on Merrin, a look of desperation in her gaze. "Merrin," she whispers, her voice barely audible over the din of the falling stone.
Varrika's anguished cry rings out, her face contorted in pain. The ground beneath us shifts and heaves, sending stones tumbling down the walls of our prison. I fumble with the torch, trying to keep it lit amidst the chaos. "Hold on, Varikka!" I shout, my voice barely audible over the din of falling rock. I crouch beside her, my hands already reaching for her injured leg. But even as I speak the words, I know it's futile. The angle is wrong, the joint too swollen and angry to be trusted. "Damn it all to hell," I mutter, feeling a surge of frustration well up inside me. "We're trapped."
Varikka's breath comes in ragged gasps as she clutches her ankle. But even through the pain, I can see the steel in her eyes. "We'll find a way out," she grunts, her voice strained but resolute. "There has to be..."
I scan the pit, my eyes darting over the piles of rubble and debris. And there, in the far corner, I spot it – a narrow opening, just big enough for us to squeeze through. "Varikka!" I shout, pointing towards the escape route. "There! We can-"
But before I can finish my sentence, a chunk of falling stone catches me on the shoulder, sending me staggering to the side. I yelp in pain, my hand flying to the injured area. It hurts like hell, but it could have been worse. Much worse. Varikka's eyes are fixed on me, a look of desperation in her gaze. "Merrin," she whispers, her voice barely audible over the din of the falling stone. "We've got to-"
She's cut off by another rumble, this one louder than before. The ground beneath us shifts and heaves, sending more stones tumbling down the walls. I crouch beside Varikka, my hands already reaching for her injured leg. But before she can finish, a deep rumble echoes through the chamber, making it harder to breathe. The air is thick with dust and debris, making it difficult to see or move. The Guardian's laughter grows louder, more taunting. I grit my teeth as Merrin helps me up, my ankle throbbing with every step. The torchlight flickers across the pit walls, casting eerie shadows that dance and writhe like the Guardian's cruel laughter. I reach for my mace, but it's gone, lost somewhere in the rubble. My heart pounds in my chest as I survey our predicament - the walls are closing in, the air thick with dust and debris, and the Guardian's taunts echo through the chamber. But I refuse to give up. I turn to Merrin, my eyes meeting hers in the dim light. "We've got to keep moving," I growl, my voice strained but determined. "There has to be a way out of this hellhole."
