Round 647 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Varikka takes a step forward, her mace clutched tight in her hand, the ground beneath her gives way once more, and she tumbles into a small, enclosed chamber. The walls are lined with ancient symbols that glow with an eerie, blue light, illuminating the space and casting flickering shadows on the stone floor. The air is thick with an otherworldly energy, making it difficult for Varikka to breathe. Suddenly, the ground gives way beneath her feet, and she falls through a hidden trapdoor, landing hard on a stone floor. The chamber around her begins to fill with a swirling mist, and the whispers grow louder, more urgent, until they become a deafening chant that echoes off the walls. Varikka's ankle throbs with pain, and she knows she must move quickly if she hopes to escape this place alive. Merrin rushes forward, searching for her in the swirling mist, her eyes scanning the darkness for any sign of danger. "Varikka!" she calls out, her voice hoarse with concern. The Guardian's lair seems closer than ever, and Varikka knows she must act quickly if they are to survive.
"Varikka!" I cry out, my voice hoarse with concern as I rush forward into the swirling mist. My heart is pounding in my chest, my senses on high alert as I scan the darkness for any sign of danger. The ancient symbols on the walls glow with an eerie, blue light, casting flickering shadows across the stone floor. I can hear the whispers growing louder, more urgent, until they become a deafening chant that echoes off the walls. I know we must move quickly if we hope to escape this place alive. Varikka's mace lies nearby, and I scoop it up, clutching it tightly in my hand. The weight of the weapon feels solid in my grip, a small comfort in the face of whatever fresh hell awaits us down here. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever lies ahead. "Varikka," I call out again, my voice trembling slightly. "I'm coming! Hold on!"
With a final nod to myself, I step forward into the mist, my eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of movement. The ground beneath my feet feels solid, but I know better than to trust it. In a place like this, nothing is as it seems. I take another step, and then another, my mace at the ready as I move deeper into the chamber. The chanting grows louder, more insistent, until it becomes a maddening whisper that fills my ears. But I don't let it slow me down. I know Varikka needs me, and I'll be damned if I let her face whatever's waiting for us alone. So I press on, one step at a time, my heart pounding in my chest as I search the shadows for any sign of danger. And as I move deeper into the darkness, I can't shake the feeling that something terrible is waiting for us at the end of this tunnel. Something that will test us in ways we never imagined. But I'll be ready for it. We both will. For now, all I can do is keep moving forward, one step at a time, and hope that whatever fresh hell awaits us down here, we have the strength to survive it. Together.
Gods damn it all... Varikka spits out a mouthful of grit, her head pounding from the fall. She can hear Merrin's voice echoing through the swirling mist, calling out to her. "Merrin!" she croaks, her voice hoarse with pain as she struggles to sit up. "I'm here! But we got problems!"
The dwarf warrior's ankle throbs like a bastard, and she knows she won't be able to move quickly in this condition. She scans the chamber, her eyes squinting against the eerie blue light of the ancient symbols on the walls. The air is thick with an otherworldly energy, making it difficult for Varikka to breathe. "Merrin!" she calls out again, her voice trembling slightly as she reaches out a hand, searching for the other woman in the darkness. "I can't move fast! You'll have to help me!"
