The Guardian takes another step forward, its massive frame looming over the pair, and raises a hand, causing the water in front of them to pause. The air is thick with tension, and the sound of rushing water and distant collapse echoes through the chamber. Varikka continues to taunt the Guardian, her voice ringing out in the cavernous space. "Come on then," she says, "show us what you've got. If you can even touch me, that is." The Guardian's eyes narrow, its massive frame tensing as it regards Varikka with growing anger.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

Merrin the Rogue:
I watch from the shadows as Varikka taunts the Guardian, her voice echoing off the chamber walls. I can see the anger building in the massive figure's eyes, the way its frame tenses as it regards my companion with growing hostility. Good. If I can keep its attention on her, I'll have a better chance of getting behind it undetected. I take another step back, my feet light on the slippery stones. The water laps at my boots, cold and threatening, but I ignore it, my focus solely on the battle ahead. My heart races as I consider our next move, the risks and possibilities running through my mind like a litany. Varikka's taunts continue to echo through the chamber, and I can see the Guardian's anger reaching a boiling point. It takes another step forward, its massive frame looming over the pair. I know we're playing a dangerous game here, but it's our best chance of survival. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what comes next. Then, with a final glance at Varikka to make sure she's still distracting the Guardian, I begin to move, my feet light on the slippery stones as I circle around to its blind spot. The water is deeper here, lapping at my thighs and threatening to pull me under, but I press on, determined to reach the alcove. I can see Varikka out of the corner of my eye, still taunting the Guardian, her voice ringing out in the cavernous space. I'm not sure what we'll find when we reach the opening, but one thing is certain: we'll face it together, just as we always have. And with any luck, we'll emerge from this tower alive and unscathed, ready for whatever challenges lie ahead. But first, we have to survive this battle. And that means keeping our wits about us and trusting in each other's abilities. With that thought in mind, I push forward, my heart pounding in my chest as I draw closer to the Guardian's blind spot. What happens next depends on how well we execute our strategy, how the Guardian responds, and what surprises the tower has in store. But one thing is certain: Merrin and Varikka will face whatever comes together, just as they always have.

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

I feel Merrin's presence behind me, her movements slight but unmistakable as she circles around to the Guardian's blind spot. A flicker of pride swells in my chest at how smoothly she executes her part of the plan. She's always been the clever one, quick on her feet and quick-witted. I, on the other hand, am better suited for direct confrontation. But together, we make a formidable team.

As the Guardian takes another step forward, its massive frame looming over us, I take a deep breath and ready myself, my mace raised and my muscles coiled. The water laps at my boots, cold and threatening, but I barely register it, my focus solely on the battle ahead. I know Merrin is counting on me to keep the Guardian's attention, to give her the time she needs to get behind it undetected. And so I step forward, my voice ringing out in the cavernous space.

"You think you're so tough?" I call out, my tone mocking and taunting. "We've faced worse than you in our travels. You're just another obstacle to overcome."

I watch as the Guardian's eyes narrow, its massive frame tensing at my words. Good. If I can keep it angry, keep it focused on me, Merrin will have a better chance of finding a weak point or some way to disable it. And so I continue to taunt, my voice echoing off the chamber walls as I take another step forward.

I know we're playing a dangerous game here, but it's our best chance of survival. The water is rising faster now, lapping at my thighs and threatening to pull me under, but I press on, determined to keep the Guardian's attention on me and not on Merrin. I can feel the weight of my mace in my hand, the familiar grip comforting even as the situation grows more dire.

And so we wait, the Guardian and I, poised on the brink of a fight that could end our lives if we don't play this just right. The air is thick with tension, the only sound the rush of the rising water and the distant rumble of the tower's collapse. But I am not afraid. Whatever happens next, Merrin and I will face it side by side, our weapons raised and our spirits unbroken.

Let the battle begin.
