Varikka charges forward with her mace, her ankle aching with each step. The Guardian's triumphant laugh echoes through the tunnel, and the ground gives way beneath her feet once again. She tumbles down another hidden shaft, the dust settling around her as she falls. As she lands hard on the rocky floor, Varikka's vision blurs. Her mace goes flying from her grasp, and she feels a surge of panic. The darkness is absolute, and she can't see anything beyond a few feet in front of her. She calls out for Merrin, her voice hoarse from shouting over the Guardian's laughter. Suddenly, Varikka hears the sound of rushing water nearby. It's faint at first, but grows louder with each passing moment. The Guardian's voice rises in excitement, and Varikka realizes that she's being drawn towards a fast-moving underground river.

Merrin · Rogue

I hear Varikka's distant cries echoing through the tunnel, sending a chill down my spine. The Guardian's maniacal laughter rings in my ears, its words searing into my mind: "Ah, little one, you will never leave our darkness."

My heart races as I scramble over the rubble, my hands and knees scraping against the rough stone. I can't let fear overwhelm me, not now. Varikka needs me, and I won't abandon her to this evil. As I reach the edge of the shaft, I peer down into the darkness, my eyes straining to see any sign of my friend. The air is thick with dust and debris, making it hard to breathe. But I can just make out the sound of rushing water in the distance, growing louder with each passing moment. "Varikka!" I call out, my voice hoarse from shouting. "Can you hear me?"

For a moment, there's only silence. Then, faintly, I hear Varikka's voice, laced with fear and pain: "Merrin? I'm down here! I think... I think the tunnel is flooding!"

My stomach drops at her words. The Guardian's plan is becoming clear - it's going to drown us, just like it did Halie and Seraphine. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what I must do. I can't let Varikka die down there alone in the darkness. With a silent prayer to any gods who might be listening, I ready my dagger and prepare to descend into the unknown, driven by a desperate need to save my friend and escape this nightmare once and for all. As I take my first step into the shaft, I hear Varikka's voice again, stronger now: "Merrin! Be careful! The ground is unstable!"

I nod, even though she can't see me. "I will be," I call back. "Just... just hold on, okay? I'm coming for you."

And with that, I begin my descent, my heart pounding in my chest as I wonder what horrors await us in the depths below. But one thing is certain - I won't let Varikka face this alone. Together, we'll find a way out of this cursed place, or die trying.

Varrika · Fighter

I hear your voice above me, Merrin, and my heart leaps at the sound. "Merrin! Be careful!" I shout up to you. "The ground is unstable!"

As the water rushes in from the tunnel, I scramble to my feet, my ankle screaming in protest. But I don't have time to dwell on the pain. I need to find my mace, and fast. Without it, I'm defenseless against whatever horrors might be lurking in the darkness.

I feel along the ground with my hands, my fingers brushing against the rough stone as I search for the familiar weight of my weapon. The water is rising quickly now, lapping at my boots as I move. I can hear the Guardian's laughter echoing through the tunnel, its voice filled with malice and glee.

But I won't let it win. I won't let this creature claim me so easily. I'm a fighter, and I'll fight to my last breath to survive this nightmare and escape back into the light.

Finally, my fingers close around the hilt of my mace, and I let out a sigh of relief. With the weapon in hand, I feel a surge of strength and courage flow through me. I ready myself for whatever challenges lie ahead, my eyes scanning the darkness for any sign of danger.

And then, suddenly, I hear your voice again, calling down to me from above. "Varikka! I'm coming for you!"

A wave of emotion washes over me - gratitude, relief, and a fierce determination to survive this together. "I'm here, Merrin," I call back, my voice steady despite the fear that grips my heart. "Just... just be careful. The ground is treacherous."

Together, we'll find a way out of this cursed place, or die trying. But one thing is certain - I won't let the Guardian claim us so easily. Not while there's still breath in our lungs and strength in our limbs.
