Round 573 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin works on creating a makeshift brace for Varikka's ankle, the rusty door at the end of the corridor creaks ominously under its own weight, as if pushed by an unseen hand. Elric's voice echoes once more, "Time is almost up... You will not escape this place." The Guardian steps forward, its presence filling the corridor with an unspeakable horror. Varikka winces in pain as Merrin applies the makeshift brace to her ankle, her face contorted in agony. Suddenly, a loud groan echoes from deeper within the tunnel system, growing louder by the second. The ground beneath them begins to shudder and tremble, the sound of rocks falling and debris crashing through the air. Varikka's eyes widen in terror as she realizes that the structural collapse is imminent, and they are trapped in the narrow corridor with no clear escape route. The Guardian's voice grows louder, more menacing, as it speaks a single, chilling word: "Now."
I feel a chill run down my spine as the Guardian's words echo through the corridor, its presence filling me with an overwhelming sense of dread. The sound of crumbling stone and falling debris grows louder, more insistent, as the structural collapse becomes imminent.
"Varikka, we need to move now!" I cry out, my voice strained with urgency as I help her to her feet. "The whole place is coming down around us!"
I glance back at the rusty door, a sense of unease washing over me. "That door... it's our only chance," I mutter, my mind racing as I consider our options.
I turn back to Varikka, my expression grim but determined. "Can you walk? We need to make it to that door before the whole place comes crashing down on top of us."
As I speak, I reach for the rope at my belt, my fingers tightening around the rough fibers. "If we can just get through that door, maybe we'll find someplace safer. Someplace where we can catch our breath and figure out what to do next."
I take a deep breath, steeling myself for the effort required to help Varikka through the crumbling ruins. "Hold on tight," I say, my voice soft but firm as I wrap one end of the rope around her waist. "We're in this together, and we're not leaving anyone behind."
With that, I take a step forward, my eyes fixed on the rusty door at the end of the corridor. The sound of crumbling stone and falling debris fills the air, the ground beneath us shaking with each passing second. But I don't let it deter me. I know that we have to keep moving, no matter what it takes.
As we begin to make our way down the narrow passage, I keep my eyes peeled for any signs of danger or potential escape routes. The sounds of crumbling stone and falling debris echo in the distance, a constant reminder of the precarious nature of our situation.
"Whatever you do, don't let go of the rope," I warn, my voice low and serious. "We can't afford to get separated in this mess."
I grit my teeth against the agony in my ankle as Merrin helps me to my feet, my hands balling into tight knots at my sides. The sound of crumbling stone and falling debris grows louder, more insistent, as the structural collapse becomes imminent. "Damn it," I mutter under my breath, my eyes darting around the dimly lit corridor. "Of all the times for this to happen..."
I take a deep breath, forcing myself to focus on the present moment. The rusty door at the end of the passage looms before us, its surface covered in a thick layer of dust and cobwebs. "Alright, let's do what we can," I say, my voice strained but determined. "But we need to keep moving. That thing... it's still out there."
As Merrin begins to work on creating a makeshift brace for my ankle, Elric's voice echoes once more from the shadows, his words sending a chill down my spine. "Time is almost up... You will not escape this place." I feel a surge of anger welling up inside me, my hand instinctively moving to the hilt of my mace. "Screw that," I growl, my voice low and dangerous. "We're not going to sit here and wait for whatever's coming. We'll find our own way out of this place."
I turn back to Merrin, my expression grim but determined. "Let's get this brace on and keep moving," I say, my voice soft but firm. "We've got a long way to go, and I'm not about to let some ghost or whatever the hell that thing is stop us."
Varikka, the battle-hardened dwarf warrior, stands tall despite the agony in her ankle. Her scarred face is set in a mask of determination, her eyes blazing with a fierce light. She knows the danger they're in, but she refuses to give in to fear or despair.
As Merrin finishes applying the makeshift brace to her ankle, Varikka takes a deep breath and nods. "Alright, let's do this," she says, her voice steady and resolute.
She limps forward, her mace gripped tightly in her hand as she follows Merrin towards the rusty door at the end of the corridor. The sound of crumbling stone and falling debris grows louder with each step, but Varikka doesn't let it deter her. She knows that they have to keep moving, no matter what it takes.
As they approach the door, Varikka reaches out with her free hand, her fingers brushing against the cold metal surface. "This could be our way out," she mutters, her voice low and hopeful.
She turns back to Merrin, a look of determination on her face. "Help me get this thing open," she says, her voice firm and commanding. "We don't have much time."
With that, Varikka braces herself against the door, her muscles tensing as she prepares to push with all her might. She knows that this could be their only chance at survival, and she's not about to let it slip away.
As they work together to push the door open, Varikka feels a surge of adrenaline coursing through her veins. She knows that whatever lies on the other side of that door, she'll face it head-on. And with Merrin by her side, she knows that they have a fighting chance.
Varikka, the battle-hardened dwarf warrior, stands tall as they prepare to push open the rusty door at the end of the corridor. Her eyes are fixed on the handle, her muscles tensed and ready for action. She knows that whatever lies on the other side could be their salvation or their doom, but she's determined to see it through.
As Merrin braces herself beside her, Varikka takes a deep breath and nods. "On three," she says, her voice low and steady. "One... two... three!"
With a mighty heave, they push against the door, their combined strength forcing it open with a groan of rusty hinges. As the door swings open, Varikka feels a rush of cool air washing over her face, carrying with it the scent of damp stone and ancient magic.
She steps forward, her mace at the ready as she peers into the darkness beyond. "Let's see what's waiting for us in there," she mutters, her voice grim but determined.
And so, with Merrin by her side and the sound of crumbling stone growing ever louder behind them, Varikka takes a step into the unknown, ready to face whatever challenges lie ahead. She knows that they have a long road ahead of them, but she's not about to let it stop her from reaching their goal.
