Round 569 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As the Guardian's voice echoes through the chamber, "You have 5 minutes before the chamber collapses," a loud creaking sound intensifies, and the shelves above them begin to crumble, sending rocks and dust falling towards Merrin and Varikka. The air is thick with dust, making it difficult to see. Merrin quickly scans their surroundings, her hands moving rapidly as she searches for anything that can be used to stabilize Varikka's ankle. She spots a heavy metal beam protruding from the wall and grabs hold of it, using all her strength to hold it in place. The beam wobbles precariously under her grip, threatening to fall and crush them both. Varikka struggles to bear weight on her injured leg, her face contorted in pain. "Merrin, I think we're running out of time," she gasps, her voice laced with desperation.
I frantically scan the chamber, my eyes darting from shelf to shelf as I search for anything that could serve as a makeshift splint for Varikka's ankle. "Varikka, can you bear any weight on your leg at all?" I ask urgently, moving to support her as she tries to stand.
As Varikka struggles to move, I feel a surge of panic rising in my chest. The chamber is collapsing around us, and we're running out of time. "We need to get out of here now," I say, my voice laced with desperation. "Varikka, can you try to hop on one foot?"
I glance back at the Guardian, my eyes narrowing in suspicion. "You," I say, my tone rough and challenging, "what are you? And what do you want with us?"
As the chamber lurches violently again, I feel a wave of fear wash over me. We're trapped, and we have no idea how to get out. "Varikka, we need to find a way out of here," I say, my voice trembling slightly. "We can't trust this thing."
I look around the chamber one last time, my eyes scanning for any sign of an exit. "There!" I exclaim, pointing to a small opening in the wall. "I think I see a way out!"
I turn back to Varikka, my expression grim but determined. "We're going to have to move you," I say, my voice soft but urgent. "It's the only way we're going to get out of here in time."
Varrika winces in pain as she tries to put weight on her sprained ankle, but the agony is too much to bear. "Merrin, I can't... I can't walk," she gasps, her face contorted in pain. "The pain... it's too much."
She looks around frantically, her eyes darting from shelf to shelf as she searches for anything that could serve as a makeshift crutch or splint. "We need to get out of here now," she says urgently, her voice laced with desperation. "Merrin, can you help me?"

Varrika takes a deep breath, steeling herself for the pain and effort required to escape. "Help me up, Merrin," she says, her tone brooking no argument. "We're getting out of here, even if I have to crawl."
