The Guardian rounds the corner, its heavy footsteps mere steps behind Merrin and Varika. The air thickens with dust as it approaches, casting an ominous shadow on the walls. The pair quickens their pace, their torches casting flickering shadows that dance across the stone floor. As they descend further into the depths of the tower, the sound of rushing water grows louder, threatening to drown out any other noise.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I glance over my shoulder, my eyes wide with fear as the Guardian's shadow grows larger on the wall behind us. My heart pounds in my chest as I quicken my pace, pulling Varikka along with me.

"Come on," I hiss, my voice barely audible over the sound of rushing water. "We need to move faster."

As we round a corner, I catch sight of a narrow passageway leading off to our left. Without hesitation, I drag Varikka towards it, my torch held high as I scan the shadows for any sign of danger.

"In here," I mutter, my hand tightening on my dagger. "It's our only chance."

As we step into the passageway, I feel the air grow colder, and the sound of water grows louder. The walls are slick with moisture, and the smell of mold hangs heavy in the air.

I take a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart as I lead the way forward. But even as we move deeper into the tower's depths, I can't shake the feeling that we're being watched, that something is lurking just out of sight, waiting for us to let our guard down.

But there's no time to dwell on it now. We have to keep moving, have to find a way out of this place before it's too late. And so I press on, my hand tightening on my weapon as I search the shadows for any sign of danger ahead.

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

I grit my teeth as Merrin pulls me into the narrow passageway, my hand tightening on the hilt of my mace. "I'm not sure this is any better than the last place," I mutter, my voice low and gravelly. "But I trust your judgment."

As we move deeper into the tunnel, I keep my eyes fixed on the shadows ahead, my body tensed and ready to strike at a moment's notice. The sound of rushing water grows louder, and I can feel the vibrations through the soles of my boots.

Suddenly, I hear a noise behind us - the scraping of claws against stone, the heavy breathing of something large and dangerous. I spin around, my mace raised high, ready to face whatever is coming for us.

"Get ready," I hiss, my eyes scanning the darkness. "That thing is right on our heels."

I take a deep breath, steeling myself for the fight ahead. Whatever this Guardian is, whatever it wants from us, I know one thing for certain - we're not going down without a fight. And if it comes to it, I'll be the one standing between it and Merrin, no matter the cost.

So I stand my ground, my weapon at the ready, and wait for the inevitable clash that is sure to come.
