The Guardian's approach grows louder, its footsteps now mere steps behind as it rounds the corner. Merrin pulls Varika closer to the stairs, their torches casting flickering shadows on the walls. The air is thick with dust, and the smell of damp stone hangs heavy over the passageway. A faint creak echoes through the structure, making Varika wince in pain as she shifts her weight onto her good ankle.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I pull Varikka close as the Guardian's approach grows closer, its heavy footsteps echoing off the stone walls. My heart pounds in my chest, but I try to keep my breathing steady as we make our way towards the stairs.

"Just stay close," I whisper, my hand gripping her arm tightly. "We're almost there."

As we reach the top of the staircase, I glance over my shoulder, my eyes scanning the darkness for any sign of pursuit. But all I see is shadows and the faint outline of the passageway behind us.

"Alright," I mutter, my hand tightening on my dagger. "Let's go. Stay close to me, and watch your step."

With that, I begin to make my way down the stairs, my torch held high and my weapon at the ready. The air is thick with dust, and the smell of damp stone hangs heavy over the passageway. But for now, we are still alive, and as long as we have each other, there is still hope.

I take a deep breath, and begin the long, treacherous climb down into the depths of the tower. The Guardian's approach echoes through the darkness, growing louder by the second - but for now, we are still free, and as long as we keep moving forward, there is a chance that we might just survive this nightmare after all.

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

I grit my teeth, my hand tightening on the hilt of my mace as I listen to the Guardian's approach. "We need to move faster," I mutter, wincing as I shift my weight onto my injured ankle. "That thing is getting closer."

I glance around, my eyes darting from shadow to shadow as the torchlight flickers across the stone walls. The air is thick with dust, and the smell of damp stone hangs heavy over the passageway. I can feel the heat of Merrin's body pressed close to mine as we make our way towards the stairs.

As we reach the top of the staircase, I take a deep breath, steeling myself for the long descent ahead. "Alright," I say, my voice barely audible over the rumbling of the tower. "Let's go. Stay close to me, and watch your step."

With that, I begin to make my way down the stairs, my torch held high and my weapon at the ready. The air grows colder as we descend, and the sound of water dripping from somewhere below echoes through the passage.

I try to ignore the pain in my ankle as we move forward, focusing instead on the sound of the Guardian's approach behind us. We are running out of time, and if we don't find a way out of this place soon, we may be trapped here forever.

As we reach the bottom of the stairs, I pause for a moment, my breath coming in ragged gasps. "We need to keep moving," I say, my voice low and urgent. "But where do we go from here?"

I glance around the room, my eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of an exit. The air is thick with the smell of mold and decay, and the sound of water lapping at the walls echoes through the chamber.

I take a deep breath, and begin to make my way forward, my hand tightening on the hilt of my mace as I prepare for whatever may lie ahead. "Stay close," I mutter, my eyes fixed on the darkness ahead. "And watch your back. That thing is still out there somewhere, and we're not safe yet."

Together, we move deeper into the depths of the tower, our torches casting flickering shadows on the walls as we search for a way out of this nightmare.
