Merrin helps Varikka steady herself against the wall, her voice soft with concern. "We need to keep moving," she says, her hand on Varikka's arm. The flickering torchlight casts eerie shadows on the walls, and the air is musty and stale. Suddenly, a faint rumbling noise echoes through the passageway, growing louder by the second. Varikka's eyes widen as she glances up at Merrin, her face etched with worry. "What's happening?" she whispers, her voice barely audible over the increasing din. The ground beneath their feet begins to vibrate, and the torch in Merrin's hand starts to wobble ominously.

I brace myself against the wall as the ground begins to shake beneath my feet. My heart pounds in my chest as I feel the vibrations intensify, sending a jolt of pain through my already injured ankle.

"What's happening?" I whisper, my voice trembling with fear. "Is the tower coming down?"

I glance around frantically, my eyes searching for any signs of danger. The torchlight flickers wildly, casting eerie shadows on the walls and making it difficult to see clearly.

"Merrin, we need to find a way out of here," I say urgently, grabbing her arm. "If this place collapses, we'll be trapped."

I take a deep breath, trying to steady myself as I consider our options. The passageway ahead is narrow and winding, with no obvious exit in sight. But behind us, the way back is blocked by the rising water and the creatures that lurk beneath its surface.

"Which way do we go?" I ask, my voice tight with tension. "We can't stay here, but I don't know if we can make it back to the main chamber in time."

I look at Merrin, my eyes pleading for guidance. In this moment, I feel helpless and afraid, like a child lost in the darkness. But I know that I can't let my fear control me. We have to keep moving forward, no matter what dangers lie ahead.

"Merrin," I say softly, my voice barely audible over the rumbling of the tower. "We need to stick together and watch each other's backs. Whatever happens, we face it together."

I take a deep breath and push myself away from the wall, wincing as I put weight on my bad ankle. The pain is intense, but I know that I can't let it slow me down. We have to keep moving, no matter what the cost.

"Let's go," I say, my voice firm with determination. "We'll find a way out of this place, even if we have to fight our way through."

Together, we limp forward into the darkness, our torches held high and our weapons at the ready. The tower groans around us, its ancient stones creaking and shifting as the very foundations threaten to give way. But for now, we are alive, and as long as we have each other, there is still hope.

My heart races as I feel the ground tremble beneath my feet, the ancient stones groaning and shifting around us. I grip Varikka's arm tightly, steadying her as she braces against the wall.

"We can't stay here," I mutter, my eyes scanning the passageway ahead for any signs of stability. "The whole place is coming down."

I glance back over my shoulder, half-expecting to see those creatures from the pool following us. But all I see is darkness and the faint glow of my torch. For now.

"Varikka, you're in no condition to fight if we run into any more trouble," I say softly, my voice laced with concern. "We need to find a safe place to rest, at least until this shaking stops."

I look ahead, my eyes narrowing as I try to make out the path through the flickering torchlight. The passageway winds on, narrow and treacherous, with no guarantee of safety at the end.

"Can you make it a little further?" I ask, my hand still on Varikka's arm. "I think there might be a side passage up ahead. It could lead to a more stable area where we can catch our breath."

I take a deep breath, steadying myself against the wall as another tremor rocks through the tower. The torchlight flickers wildly, casting eerie shadows on the walls and making it difficult to see clearly.

"Just hold on," I say, my voice firm with determination. "We'll find a way out of this place, even if we have to fight our way through."
