Round 551 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Varikka struggles to put weight on her injured ankle, the water rises higher, lapping at their knees. Merrin helps her along the ledge, her eyes fixed on the archway ahead. The sound of rushing water grows louder, and the creatures beneath the surface seem to be getting closer, their scratching and slapping sounds echoing off the walls. Suddenly, a loud crack echoes through the room, and a section of the wall gives way, sending rocks tumbling down the passage. The ground shudders beneath their feet, and Varikka's eyes widen in alarm. The archway now seems even more precarious, and Merrin realizes they need to act fast. A chunk of debris crashes onto the ledge just behind them, sending a shower of rocks and dust into the water. The creatures below let out a chorus of clicks and whistles, their movements becoming more agitated. Varikka's ankle throbs in agony as she stumbles, her weight shifting precariously on the ledge. Merrin's grip on her arm tightens, and she pulls Varikka closer to the archway. "We need to move now!" she shouts above the din of the falling rocks. The water is now at their waists, and it's only a matter of time before it reaches their chests.
I wrap my arm tightly around Varikka's waist, supporting her weight as we make our way along the precarious ledge towards the archway on the far side of the chamber. The water rises higher with each passing moment, lapping at our knees and threatening to pull us under.
"Don't worry, I've got you," I mutter, my voice strained with effort. "Just keep moving one foot in front of the other."
As we approach the archway, I notice a small opening in the wall, hidden behind a pile of rubble. It's barely visible in the dim light, but it looks like it might be our only way out.
"Varikka, do you see that?" I ask, pointing towards the opening. "I think that might be our ticket out of here."
I start to move towards the opening, using my free hand to clear away some of the debris blocking our path. The water is now up to my waist, and I can feel the creatures beneath the surface growing bolder, their movements more pronounced as they sense our presence.
"Come on, we need to hurry," I say urgently, pulling Varikka closer. "This place is coming down around us, and those things in the water don't look friendly."
I help Varikka through the opening, my heart pounding in my chest as I emerge into a narrow passageway on the other side. The sound of rushing water grows fainter, but the ground beneath our feet is still unstable, and I know we're not out of danger yet.
"Let's keep moving," I say, my voice trembling with fear. "We need to find a way to higher ground before this whole place collapses on top of us."
I grit my teeth against the pain radiating from my ankle and shift my weight to take some strain off Merrin. "You're right, we need to move now," I mutter, my voice tight with pain and fear.
I scan the chamber, my eyes narrowing as I take in the crumbling walls and rising water level. The sound of rushing water grows louder, and I know we can't stay here much longer. "Looks like that archway is our best bet," I say, pointing towards the far side of the room.
I try to put more weight on my bad ankle, but the pain is excruciating. Merrin's grip on my arm tightens, and she helps me along the ledge towards the archway. "Thanks for getting me out of there, Merrin," I mutter, my voice strained with effort.
As we approach the archway, I notice a small opening in the wall, hidden behind a pile of rubble. It's barely visible in the dim light, but it looks like it might be our only way out. "Merrin, look," I say, pointing towards the opening. "I think that might be our ticket out of here."

As we emerge into the narrow passageway on the other side of the archway, I let out a sigh of relief. The sound of rushing water grows fainter, but the ground beneath our feet is still unstable, and I know we're not out of danger yet. "Let's keep moving," I say, my voice trembling with fear.
