Round 547 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Varikka calls out to Merrin, the rustling sound grows louder, and she can see a pair of glowing eyes peering out from the darkness. The air seems to vibrate with malevolent energy, and the spectral entity's whispery voice sends shivers down her spine. "Merrin, did you hear that?" Varikka whispers urgently, her mace at the ready. Suddenly, the ground beneath her gives way, and Varikka finds herself teetering on the edge of a hidden pit. The water below is icy cold, and she knows she can't stay here for long. Her sprained ankle throbs in pain as she struggles to maintain her balance. The eyes draw closer, and the spectral entity's presence grows stronger, its whispery voice echoing through the chamber like a death knell. Varikka must act quickly to avoid falling into the abyss. Immediate pressure: Will Varikka be able to steady herself and avoid falling into the pit before the spectral entity closes in?
I hear Varikka's urgent call and rush towards her voice, my crossbow at the ready. As I round a corner, I see her teetering on the edge of a hidden pit, her mace raised defensively against the glowing eyes in the darkness. My heart pounds as I realize how close she is to falling into the icy waters below.
"Varikka!" I shout, my voice echoing through the tunnels. "Hold on, I'm coming!"
I sprint towards her, my feet slipping on the wet stones. As I draw closer, I can see the spectral entity's presence growing stronger, its whispery voice sending chills down my spine. The air seems to vibrate with malevolent energy, and I know we need to act fast.
"Varikka, I'm here!" I call out, my voice trembling with fear. "Can you jump back towards me? I'll catch you!"
I reach out with my free hand, ready to grab Varikka's arm and pull her to safety. My crossbow is trained on the glowing eyes, ready to fire at the first sign of danger. I know our chances of survival are slim, but I refuse to let my friend fall into that abyss.
"Varikka, please!" I plead, my voice growing more urgent with each passing second. "You have to trust me! Jump back, and I'll catch you!"
I hold my breath, praying that Varikka will listen to my plea. The ground beneath my feet feels unstable, and the sound of rushing water grows louder with each passing moment. I know we can't stay here for long, but I refuse to abandon my friend to her fate.
"Jump, Varikka!" I shout, my voice echoing through the tunnels. "Now!"
I hear Merrin's voice and feel a rush of relief, knowing she's nearby. But as I look down into the pit, I realize how close I am to falling in myself. "Merrin, I... I don't know if I can make it back to you," I call out, my voice trembling with fear.
The pain in my ankle is excruciating, and I know I can barely stand, let alone jump. The glowing eyes draw closer, and I can feel the spectral entity's presence growing stronger. Its whispery voice echoes through the chamber like a death knell, filling me with dread.
I raise my mace defensively, ready to strike at anything that comes too close. "Merrin, you have to go on without me," I say, my voice growing more urgent with each passing second. "Find a way out of here and get help. I'll try to hold them off as long as I can."
I know it's a sacrifice, but I refuse to let Merrin fall into the abyss with me. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever comes next. "Go, Merrin!" I shout, my voice echoing through the tunnels. "Don't look back! I'll be right behind you!"
I know it's a lie, but I can't let Merrin see how desperate our situation really is. As she runs off into the darkness, I turn to face the glowing eyes, my mace raised high. "Come and get me, you bastard," I growl under my breath.
I know I may not survive this encounter, but I'm determined to go down fighting. With a battle cry on my lips, I charge towards the pit, ready to meet whatever fate awaits me in the depths below.
