Varrika's ankle screamed in protest as she shifted her weight, the sprain still fresh and painful. She needed both hands free to keep her balance on the treacherous footing, but the noxious gas made it hard to think clearly. Merrin clung to a precarious ledge above the rising waters, her quick fingers finding purchase in the cracks between stone blocks. The floor was slick with algae and Goddess knew what else, and every step felt like walking on ice. They had barely made it through the narrow passage when the sound hit them - a roar like a waterfall unleashed. Merrin grabbed Varrika's arm, pulling her back against the wall as a torrent of water burst into view, rushing past them with enough force to sweep both of them away if they'd been standing in its path. "Goddess above," Merrin breathed, watching the floodwaters rise rapidly.

Varrika didn't have time to marvel at the spectacle. Her vision was compromised by blood and grime from her ordeal, but she could make out the massive stone slab partially collapsed ahead. The blockage was their only hope of stopping the flood, but it looked unstable at best. "We need to move faster," she growled through gritted teeth, ignoring the pain in her ankle as she half-climbed, half-stumbled over the slippery rocks.

Merrin nodded grimly, her eyes fixed on the rising water level. They had minutes at most before the entire chamber was submerged. "Stay close," she said, her voice barely audible over the roar of rushing water. "And watch your footing - one wrong step and we're both done for."

As Varrika took another step forward into the chamber, her eyes scanning the walls for any signs of danger, Elric's torch cast eerie shadows on the ground. The dwarf warrior's gaze lingered on a symbol etched into the wall, pulsing with a faint blue light. Suddenly, the air in the chamber grew colder, and Varrika could feel a presence behind her. She spun around, her mace at the ready, to see Elric now standing a few feet away from her, his eyes glowing with an unearthly intensity. "Elric, what in the Goddess's name is happening here?" she demanded, her voice firm despite the growing dread in her chest.

Merrin’s eyes darted around the chamber, her heart racing as she tried to make sense of what was happening. She could feel the presence of Elric behind her, but something about him seemed... off. As Varrika demanded answers from Elric, Merrin stepped closer to the dwarf warrior, her mace at the ready. The whispering in the chamber grew louder, and Merrin could feel a chill run down her spine. She knew that they were in danger, but she was not sure what kind of threat they were facing. Merrin’s mind raced as she tried to process everything that was happening around them. The noxious gas, the rising waters, the strange symbols on the walls - it all pointed to something far more sinister than a simple cave collapse.

Varrika could feel her heart pounding in her chest as she stared at Elric, her mace still raised and ready. She knew that she needed to stay calm and think clearly if they were going to survive whatever was happening in this chamber. "Talk to me, Elric," she said, her voice low and steady. "What have you gotten us into?"
