As they peer into the narrow opening, a faint rustling noise echoes from within, making Varikka's grip on Merrin's arm tighten. "Sounds like something's moving in there," Varikka whispers, her eyes scanning the darkness. The air is thick with dust, and the sound of rushing water grows fainter, replaced by the creaking and groaning of the tunnel as it shifts beneath their feet. Suddenly, a chunk of debris dislodges from the ceiling, sending a shower of dust and rocks cascading down around them, partially blocking their view of the opening. The rustling noise grows louder, and Merrin's eyes narrow, her smile faltering for a moment before she regains her composure. "Looks like we've got company," she says, her voice low and even, as they prepare to face whatever is lurking in the darkness.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I grimace as the sound of movement grows louder, my hand instinctively reaching for my mace. "Stay sharp," I mutter, my eyes scanning the shadows. The tunnel walls are crumbling around us, great chunks of stone and debris raining down from the ceiling with each passing moment. It's like being caught in a storm at sea, the waves crashing against the rocks and threatening to pull us under at any moment. But just as despair begins to set in, I spot a narrow opening in the wall ahead, just barely visible through the haze of dust and shadow. "There," I say softly, pointing it out to Varikka. "Looks like there might be another way out - if we can make it that far without getting crushed by falling debris or drowned by rising floodwaters."

Varikka's eyes narrow as she follows my gaze, her lips curling into a wry smile. "Well, at least we won't have to worry about the Guardian finding us in here," she mutters darkly. "If this place doesn't collapse on our heads first."

I shudder at the thought, my mind flashing back to the last time I saw that monstrous creature - its gaping maw and razor-sharp teeth, the way it seemed to relish our pain and fear. But there's no use dwelling on what might have been - we've got to focus on surviving this nightmare, one step at a time. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for the treacherous climb ahead. "Alright," I say softly, my voice barely audible over the groaning of the tunnel walls. "Let's keep moving before this whole place comes down around our ears. Stay low and watch your step - we don't know what else might be lurking in these shadows."

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

Varikka's eyes narrow as she peers into the narrow opening, her hand instinctively tightening on the hilt of her mace. The sound of movement grows louder, and a sense of unease creeps over her. She glances back at Merrin, her voice hushed as she speaks.

"Stay close," she whispers, her gaze fixed on the shadows. "And be ready for anything. We don't know what's lurking in there."

Varikka takes a deep breath, steeling herself for whatever may come. The tunnel walls are crumbling around them, great chunks of stone and debris raining down from the ceiling with each passing moment. It's like being caught in a storm at sea, the waves crashing against the rocks and threatening to pull them under at any moment. But Varikka refuses to let fear take hold - she's fought through worse than this, and she won't let some unknown creature stop her now.

She takes a step forward, her mace at the ready as she prepares to face whatever is lurking in the darkness. The rustling grows louder, and Varikka's grip tightens on her weapon, her muscles tensing as she braces for an attack. Whatever is in there, it's coming for them - and Varikka will be ready to meet it head-on, no matter the cost.
