Round 505 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

The ground beneath us gives way once more, and we tumble down a narrow passageway, the air thick with noxious gas that burns our lungs with each breath. As we slide down, I hear the sound of falling stone growing louder, and I know that the structural collapse is getting closer. The Guardian's presence surges forward, its energy washing over us like a cold wave, making it harder to breathe. We land hard on the rocky floor, and I can feel the weight of the tower pressing down on us from above. Varikka's sprained ankle throbs in pain as she struggles to right herself amidst the chaos. The passageway is narrow, with falling debris threatening to crush us at any moment. We have to keep moving if we want to survive. Suddenly, the ground shudders violently, and a loud crack echoes through the chamber. The wall behind us begins to crumble, sending rocks tumbling down towards us. "We need to find cover!" I shout to Varikka, my voice strained but urgent. "Now!"
I let out a yelp of pain as we tumble down the narrow passageway, my ankle throbbing in agony with each jolt and bounce. The air is thick with noxious gas, making it hard to breathe, and I can feel the weight of the tower pressing down on us from above.
But even as panic threatens to overwhelm me entirely, I force myself to focus, to keep my grip on Varikka's arm steady as we slide down the steep slope. The sound of falling stone grows louder with each passing moment, threatening to crush us at any moment if we let it.
"Cover!" Varikka shouts suddenly, her voice strained but urgent even as she fights to keep her balance amidst the chaos. "Now!"
I nod, my teeth gritted as I struggle to right myself amidst the jostling and bouncing of the rocky terrain. The ground is shifting beneath our feet, threatening to give way at any moment, and I can feel the weight of the tower pressing down on us from above.
But even as fear threatens to overwhelm me entirely, I force myself to take a deep breath, to steel myself for whatever horrors may lie ahead. We've come so far together, faced so many challenges, and I know that we can make it through this if we stick together.
"There!" I shout, pointing towards a small alcove in the wall, partially obscured by falling debris. "Get in there!"
And with that, we tumble into the alcove, our hearts pounding in our chests as we brace ourselves for whatever challenges may lie ahead.
I grit my teeth against the pain in my ankle as Merrin and I tumble into the alcove, my heart pounding in my chest. The air is thick with noxious gas, making it hard to breathe, and the sound of falling stone echoes through the chamber like a death knell.
"Good thinking," I mutter to Merrin, my voice strained but grateful even as I struggle to right myself amidst the chaos. "But we can't stay here for long. That wall won't hold forever."
I take a moment to catch my breath, my eyes scanning the area for any sign of danger or potential escape routes. The alcove is small, barely big enough for the two of us to huddle together, but it's better than being out in the open.
"We need to find a way out of here," I say firmly, my jaw set with determination even as I fight back a wave of fear. "And we need to do it fast, before this whole place comes crashing down around us."
I can feel the weight of the tower pressing down on us from above, and the knowledge that the Guardian is still out there, waiting to strike, only makes the situation more dire.
"Do you have any idea where we are?" I ask Merrin, my voice soft but urgent even as I keep one eye on the crumbling wall. "Any idea of how to get out of this mess?"
I know that the odds are stacked against us, but I also know that we can't give up now. We've come too far, faced too many horrors, to let ourselves be crushed by falling stone and noxious gas.
"We'll find a way," I mutter to myself, my hand tightening around the handle of my crowbar even as I struggle to keep my balance amidst the jostling and bouncing of the rocky terrain. "We always do."
And with that, I take a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever challenges may lie ahead. We've faced worse than this before, and we'll face worse again. But for now, all that matters is surviving the moment and finding a way out of this death trap.
