Round 502 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

The mirror's surface ripples once more, and the Guardian's presence surges forward. "It's coming," I whisper to Varika, my voice barely audible over the sound of rushing water. "We need to move, now." She nods, her grip on her crowbar tightening as she readies herself for the attack. Suddenly, a loud crack echoes through the chamber, and the ground beneath us gives way beneath our feet. We stumble, our balance lost, as the chamber begins to collapse around us. The air fills with dust and debris, and I feel a cold wind whipping past us, threatening to extinguish the torches. "We need to get out of here, now!" Merrin shouts, her voice piercing above the din of falling stone. "The Guardian will crush us if we don't move!"
I cling tightly to Varikka's arm as we stagger through the collapsing chamber, my heart pounding in my chest. The sound of rushing water fills my ears, drowning out everything else as the ground gives way beneath our feet. I can feel the weight of the tower shifting above us, the very foundations trembling with each step. Varikka's grip on her crowbar is white-knuckled, her muscles straining as she fights to keep her balance. "We need to move!" she shouts over the din, her voice barely audible above the roar of falling stone. I nod, my own hands clutching at the rough stone as I struggle to keep my footing. The air is thick with dust and debris, making it difficult to see more than a few feet ahead. But Varikka's steady presence is a comfort, her strong arm anchoring me even as the world around us crumbles. Suddenly, a loud crack echoes through the chamber, and the ground beneath us shifts once more. I feel myself losing my balance, my legs slipping out from under me as the stone gives way. "Varikka!" I cry out, my hands scrabbling for purchase on the slick surface. But before I can fall, I feel a strong hand grab my wrist, pulling me back to solid ground. It's Varikka, her face etched with determination even as the fear shines in her eyes. "We need to keep moving," she gasps, her voice strained with exertion as she hauls me to my feet. I nod, my own muscles burning as I struggle to stay upright. The chamber is a mess of falling stone and rushing water, the air thick with noxious gas that burns my lungs with each breath. But Varikka's steady presence is a beacon in the chaos, and I cling to her arm like a lifeline as we make our way through the debris. "Look out!" I cry out suddenly, spotting a large chunk of stone teetering on the edge of collapse just ahead. Varikka reacts instantly, pulling me aside just as the stone comes crashing down, narrowly missing us both. "We need to find an exit," Varikka pants, her eyes scanning the chamber for any sign of a way out. "We can't stay here much longer."
I nod, my own gaze darting from side to side as I search for anything that might lead us to safety. The mirror is still there, its surface rippling ominously even as the chamber collapses around it. But it's the Guardian's presence that concerns me most - I can feel it growing stronger with each passing moment, its energy washing over us like a cold wave. "Over there!" I shout suddenly, spotting a narrow opening in the far wall, partially obscured by falling debris. "That might be our way out!"
Varikka nods, and together we make our way towards the opening, our hearts pounding in our chests as we fight to stay upright amidst the chaos. The sound of rushing water grows louder with each step, and I can feel the ground shifting beneath our feet, threatening to give way at any moment. But we push on, driven by a desperate need for survival, a determination to see this through no matter what horrors may lie ahead. And as we reach the opening, I feel a sudden rush of hope - perhaps, just perhaps, we might make it out of this alive after all.
I grit my teeth as I struggle to keep my balance amidst the chaos of falling stone and rushing water. My ankle throbs with pain from my earlier injury, threatening to buckle beneath me with each step. But Merrin's presence is a steadying force at my side, her hand gripping my arm tightly as we make our way through the debris.
As we near the narrow opening in the far wall, I feel a sudden surge of energy, a sense that we may have finally found our way to safety. But it's short-lived, as a large chunk of stone suddenly comes crashing down just ahead of us, blocking our path.
"Damn it," I mutter under my breath, my grip on the crowbar tightening as I scan the area for another route. The sound of rushing water grows louder, more insistent, and I can feel the ground shifting beneath our feet, threatening to give way at any moment. But even as panic threatens to set in, I force myself to focus, to stay alert for any sign of danger. The Guardian's presence is still there, its energy washing over us like a cold wave, and I know that it's only a matter of time before it makes its move.
I glance at Merrin, her face etched with exhaustion and fear even as she fights to keep her balance. We've come so far together, faced so many horrors, and the thought of losing her now is unbearable.
"Stay close," I whisper, my voice strained but steady as I pull her towards me, shielding her body with my own. "We'll find a way out of this, I promise you."
And with that, I take a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever may come next. The chamber is a mess of falling stone and rushing water, the air thick with noxious gas that burns my lungs with each breath. But we're not going down without a fight.
"Ready yourself," I mutter to Merrin, my muscles tensing as I raise my crowbar, ready to strike at whatever horrors may emerge from the darkness ahead. "This is far from over."
