As the Guardian lunges forward, its metal claws swiping at Varikka, the stone block behind it suddenly gives way, sending a torrent of rushing water crashing down onto the ledge. The force of the impact sends Varikka stumbling backward, her crowbar flying from her grasp. Merrin reacts swiftly, grabbing Varikka's arm and pulling her toward the narrow opening between the crumbling walls, just as the water begins to rise, threatening to sweep them away. The Guardian, momentarily stunned by the loss of its footing, gives Varikka and Merrin a brief respite, but it quickly regains its composure, its unnatural heart glowing brighter in the dim light as it eyes the pair with renewed ferocity. With the water rising fast, Varikka and Merrin must decide how to proceed, their only hope for survival lying in finding a way to outrun the Guardian and the deluge before it's too late. The sound of rushing water grows louder, and the chamber begins to flood faster, threatening to sweep them away at any moment. The Guardian takes a step closer, its metal claws extended, ready to strike.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I yank Varikka toward me, my fingers digging into her arm as I pull her toward the narrow opening between the crumbling walls. The water rises quickly, lapping at our feet and threatening to sweep us away at any moment. "This way!" I shout, my voice barely audible over the deafening roar of the rushing water. I can see the Guardian regaining its footing, its unnatural heart glowing brighter in the dim light as it eyes us with renewed ferocity. Its metal claws extend, ready to strike once again, and I know that we must act fast if we hope to survive this nightmare. With a grunt of effort, I pull Varikka through the narrow opening, her crowbar still lying forgotten on the ledge behind us. The water continues to rise, filling the chamber with a treacherous flood that threatens to claim our lives at any moment. But as I glance back over my shoulder, I see a glimmer of hope in the distance: a narrow ledge, just visible above the rising waters, leading off into the darkness beyond. It's risky, but it may be our only chance of escape. "We need to keep moving," I call out to Varikka, my voice strained with the effort of hauling her along the crumbling stone. "There's a ledge up ahead, just above the water line. If we can reach it, we might be able to make our way out of this chamber and find a path to safety."

I know that the Guardian is still pursuing us, its unnatural heart beating ominously as it claws at the stone behind us, trying to close the distance between us. But I also know that we can't afford to look back, not if we want to survive this ordeal. So I grit my teeth, bracing myself against the crumbling walls as I drag Varikka onward, determined to keep moving forward no matter what lies ahead. Together, we must find a way to outrun the rising waters and the relentless pursuit of the unnatural creature, our only hope for survival lying in the narrow ledge that beckons tantalizingly from the darkness.

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

I grit my teeth against the pain of my injured ankle as Merrin drags me through the narrow opening, the water rising fast behind us. "That ledge," I gasp out, pointing to the slender strip of stone just visible above the churning flood. "It might be our only chance." I brace myself against the crumbling walls, my fingers digging into the rough stone as I heave myself forward, fighting against the pull of the rising waters. The Guardian's unnatural heart pulses ominously in the distance, its metal claws scraping against the stone as it claws its way toward us. But I push that thought aside, focusing all my energy on the narrow ledge ahead, our one hope for survival in this nightmarish chamber. With a final burst of effort, I pull myself up onto the ledge, my muscles burning from the strain. Merrin follows close behind, her dagger at the ready as she scans the darkness ahead for any signs of danger. The water laps at the edges of our precarious perch, threatening to sweep us away at any moment, but for now we are safe, if only for a breath. I know that we cannot afford to rest, not with the Guardian still pursuing us and the chamber collapsing around us. So I take a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever lies ahead, and nod to Merrin. "Lead on," I say, my voice rough with exhaustion and pain. "Let's find a way out of this hellhole before it's too late."
