Round 483 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin charges at the Guardian once more, her crowbar meeting its armor with a sickening crunch, the creature stumbles back. However, its unblinking hunger remains fixed on her, and it lunges forward again, driven by an unnatural strength. The door behind them lurches to a stop, its surface etched with fresh, pulsing runes that seem to sear themselves into the stone. Suddenly, the ground beneath their feet gives way, and the chamber's structural collapse becomes imminent. Merrin and Varika find themselves standing on a narrow ledge, suspended high above the rising waters. The Guardian, now mere inches from crushing them, is momentarily distracted by the collapsing structure.
I grit my teeth against the pain in my ankle as I watch Merrin charge at the Guardian once more, her crowbar meeting its armor with a sickening crunch. The creature staggers back, but its unblinking hunger remains fixed on her, and it lunges forward again, driven by an unnatural strength.
Suddenly, the ground beneath our feet gives way, and I feel myself slipping. Merrin grabs my arm just in time, pulling me onto a narrow ledge as the chamber collapses around us. We're suspended high above the rising waters, the Guardian momentarily distracted by the crumbling structure.
My heart races as I struggle to catch my balance on the precarious ledge. The pain in my ankle is excruciating, but I know we can't afford to rest. Merrin is already scanning the chamber for an escape route, her crowbar at the ready.
I take a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever comes next. We've made it this far by fighting together, and I won't let my injuries hold us back now. With a determined nod to Merrin, I raise my own weapon, ready to join her in battle once more.
Whatever horrors lie ahead, we'll face them together. For Merrin, for ourselves, and for anyone else who might still be trapped in this accursed tower. We'll find a way out, no matter the cost.
My heart is pounding as I pull Varikka onto the narrow ledge, barely saving her from tumbling into the rising waters below. The chamber around us collapses further, ancient stone crumbling under the weight of centuries. The Guardian, momentarily distracted by the chaos, gives me a precious second to assess our dire situation.
I scan the walls frantically, searching for any handholds or footholds that might lead us to safety. But the stone is slick with moisture, and the ledge we cling to grows narrower by the moment. Varikka shifts beside me, her injured ankle threatening to give way at any second. I can see the pain etched on her face, but also a fierce determination burning in her eyes.
I know that we can't stay here - the water is rising fast, and the tower won't hold much longer. Our only hope is to keep moving, to find some way out of this nightmare before it's too late. And so, I turn to Varikka with a grim smile, my crowbar at the ready.
Stay close behind me, I whisper, my voice barely audible over the groans of collapsing stone. We'll find a way out, or we'll go down fighting. But either way, we're not dying here.
With that, I turn back to face the Guardian, my weapon raised high. The creature lunges forward once more, its metal claws gleaming in the dim light. But this time, I'm ready for it. This time, we fight together - or we fall trying.
