Round 430 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Merrin's eyes lock onto the massive stone dais, and she takes a step forward, her hand tightening on the handle of her mace. The Guardian watches them with an unblinking gaze, its eyes fixed on Varikka's injured ankle. The air is thick with the scent of noxious gas, and Merrin can feel her lungs burning with each breath. As she moves closer to the dais, the ground beneath her feet gives a slight creak, and she winces, her eyes darting to Varikka, who struggles to keep her balance on her twisted ankle. The sound of rushing water grows louder, and the chamber starts to shake, as if the very foundations are beginning to collapse. The Guardian takes another step closer, its voice echoing through the chamber: "You fools...you'll never escape."
Merrin's heart races as she helps Varikka towards the dais, her eyes darting around the chamber in search of any potential exits or dangers. The Guardian's ominous words echo in her mind, making her skin crawl.
"Stay close," she whispers to Varikka, her hand tightening on the handle of her mace. "And watch your step."
As they approach the dais, Merrin can feel the ground trembling beneath their feet, as if the very foundations of the chamber are beginning to collapse. The sound of rushing water grows louder, and she knows that they don't have much time left.
"I think I see something," she says, pointing to a small opening at the base of the dais. "It might be a way out."
Merrin takes a deep breath, steeling herself for what lies ahead. She knows that they are in grave danger, but she refuses to give up without a fight.
"Varikka," she says, her voice strained. "We need to work together if we're going to make it out of here alive."
With that, Merrin takes a step towards the opening, her heart pounding in her chest as she prepares to face whatever challenges lie ahead. She knows that the path forward will not be easy, but she also knows that they have no choice but to keep moving if they want to survive.
"Ready?" she asks, turning to Varikka with a look of determination in her eyes. "Let's go."
Varrika limps towards the dais, her face a mask of grim determination. Merrin's words echo in her mind, urging her onwards even as the pain in her twisted ankle throbs with each step. "I hear you," she growls, her voice strained. "But we'll be no good to anyone if we stay here and wait to drown."
As they approach the dais, Varrika's eyes lock onto the small opening at its base. It's a tight squeeze, but it might just be their only way out. She takes a deep breath, steeling herself for what lies ahead. The Guardian looms behind them, its unblinking gaze fixed on their every move. "Alright," Varrika says, her voice strained. "I'll go first. If I get stuck, you'll need to pull me out."
Without hesitation, she lowers herself onto the ground and begins to crawl towards the opening, her scarred hands gripping the rough stone as she drags herself forward. The noxious gas burns in her lungs, each breath a struggle against the choking mist that fills the air. As she reaches the opening, Varrika pauses for a moment, her heart pounding in her chest. She knows that whatever lies beyond this point, it will not be easy. But she also knows that they have no choice but to keep moving if they want to survive. With a deep breath, Varrika begins to push herself through the opening, her body squeezing through the tight space as she fights against the pain in her twisted ankle. The sound of rushing water grows louder with each passing second, and she can feel the ground trembling beneath her as the chamber starts to collapse around them. But even as the walls seem to close in on her, Varikka refuses to give up. She knows that Merrin is counting on her, and she won't let her down. With a final push, she emerges on the other side of the dais, her body aching from the effort but alive and ready to face whatever challenges lie ahead. "Come on," she calls back to Merrin, her voice strained. "We're almost there."
And with that, Varrika begins to crawl forward into the unknown, her heart pounding in her chest as she prepares to face whatever lies ahead.
