As Merrin helps Varikka steady herself, the Guardian takes a step closer, its voice echoing through the chamber. "You fools...you'll never escape," it says, its eyes burning with an unholy light. The air is thick with the scent of noxious gas, and Merrin can feel her lungs burning with each breath. Suddenly, the ground beneath Varikka's foot gives way, and she stumbles, her twisted ankle twisting at an unnatural angle. Merrin grabs her arm, helping her to steady herself. "Easy, Varikka," she says, her voice tight with concern. "We need to be careful."

Varikka winces in pain, but she refuses to give up. "I'm fine," she says, her voice strained. "Let's keep moving." The Guardian watches them with an unblinking gaze, its eyes fixed on Varikka's injured ankle. The sound of rushing water grows louder, and Merrin can feel the structural instability in the new area bearing down on them. She knows they need to find a way out before it's too late. "We need to get moving," she says, her hand tightening on the handle of her mace. "We can't stay here."

Merrin helps Varikka stand, her eyes scanning the chamber for any signs of an exit or a path forward. The noxious gas still burns in her lungs, each breath a struggle against the choking mist that fills the air.

"Varikka, we need to find a way out of here," she says, her voice strained. "But we can't do it if you can't walk."

Merrin's eyes land on the massive stone dais in the center of the room, its surface covered in a layer of dust and debris. The ancient runes etched into the walls seem to pulse with an otherworldly energy, making the air shimmer around them.

"I think we need to get to that dais," she says, pointing towards it. "There might be something up there that can help us."

But even as she speaks, Merrin knows that they are running out of time. The sound of rushing water grows louder with each passing second, and she can feel the ground trembling beneath their feet.

"We need to hurry," she says, her hand tightening on the handle of her mace. "Before this whole place comes down on top of us."

With a deep breath, Merrin takes a step forward, her eyes locked on the dais as she prepares to face whatever challenges lie ahead. The Guardian watches them with an unblinking gaze, its eyes fixed on Varikka's injured ankle.

"Stay close," Merrin whispers to Varikka, her voice strained. "And keep your guard up. We don't know what we'll face in here."

And so they venture forward into the unknown, their hearts heavy with the knowledge that whatever lies ahead, it will not be easy. But Merrin knows that they must keep fighting, keep pushing through the pain and the fear until they find a way out of this cursed place.
