Round 428 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin helps Varikka to her feet, Varikka's injured ankle throbs in protest. She winces, but refuses to let it stop her. "I'm fine," she says, her voice strained. "Let's keep moving." The Guardian watches them with an unblinking gaze, its eyes burning with an otherworldly light. As they approach the massive stone dais, the ancient runes etched into the walls seem to pulse with an otherworldly energy, making the air shimmer around them. The sound of rushing water grows louder, and Merrin can feel the ground trembling beneath their feet. Suddenly, a section of the floor gives way beneath Varikka's foot, and she stumbles, her ankle twisting at an unnatural angle. Merrin grabs Varikka's arm, helping her to steady herself. "Easy," she says, her voice tight with concern. "We need to be careful. We don't know what else is down here." The Guardian takes a step closer, its voice echoing through the chamber: "You fools...you'll never escape..."
Merrin grits her teeth as she helps Varikka steady herself, her heart pounding in her chest at the near miss. The sound of rushing water fills her ears, a reminder that time is running out.
"We need to find a way out of here," she says, her voice strained. "But we have to be careful. That ankle injury isn't going to heal itself."
Merrin's eyes dart around the chamber, taking in every detail of their surroundings. The ancient runes etched into the walls seem to pulse with an otherworldly energy, making the air shimmer around them. In the center of the room stands the massive stone dais, its surface covered in a layer of dust and debris.
But it is the sight of the Guardian that sends a chill down Merrin's spine. The creature looms over them, its eyes burning with an otherworldly light as it regards them with a look of cruel amusement.
"Stay close," Merrin whispers to Varikka, her hand tightening on the handle of her mace. "And keep your guard up. We don't know what we'll face in here."
With a deep breath, Merrin takes a step forward, her eyes locked on the Guardian as she prepares to face whatever challenges lie ahead. The air is thick with the scent of noxious gas, and Merrin can feel her lungs burning with each breath.
But even as they move towards the dais, Merrin knows that they are running out of time. The sound of rushing water grows louder with each passing second, and she can feel the ground trembling beneath their feet.
They must find a way out before it's too late, but Merrin knows that the path ahead will not be easy. With a deep breath, she takes another step forward, her heart pounding in her chest as she prepares to face whatever lies ahead.
And so they venture forward into the unknown, their hearts heavy with the knowledge that whatever lies ahead, it will not be easy. But Merrin knows that they must keep fighting, keep pushing through the pain and the fear until they find a way out of this cursed place.
"Can you make it to the dais?" Merrin asks, her voice strained. "We need to see what's up there."
