As Varikka struggles to stand, her injured ankle buckling beneath her, the sound of rushing water grows louder, and the air begins to cool slightly. The ground around her starts to slide, revealing a hidden catch that triggers a section of the pit trap wall to collapse, sending debris crashing down on the other side. The Guardian's voice echoes through the corridor once more, its tone dripping with malevolent glee. "You fools; you think you can escape the tower? The Guardian awaits, and so does the unknown figure in the new chamber."

I grimace as I push myself up, my muscles aching from the fall. "I'm alright," I mutter, brushing debris from my leathers. My eyes dart around the pit, taking in our surroundings. The walls are slick with moisture, and the sound of rushing water echoes ominously through the chamber. Varikka's struggles to stand draw my attention, and I see her wince as she puts weight on her injured ankle. "Easy there," I say, moving to support her. "Let me help you." I slide an arm around her waist, taking some of her weight as she leans against me. Together, we limp towards the edge of the pit, scanning the walls for any sign of a way out. The Guardian's voice rings in my ears, its taunting words sending a chill down my spine. "Varikka," I say softly, "we need to find a way out of here before whatever's waiting for us finds us first." I tighten my grip on my mace, my knuckles white beneath the leather. The air grows colder as we move deeper into the pit, and I can feel the weight of the stone walls pressing down on us from all sides. As we reach the edge of the pit, I notice a section of the wall that seems to have been disturbed by our fall. Debris is scattered across the floor, and I can see the faint outline of a hidden mechanism in the shadows. "Varikka," I whisper, nodding towards the wall, "I think there might be something here." I move closer, my eyes scanning the stones for any sign of a trigger or a catch. "I need to check this out," I mutter, my fingers probing at the cracks between the stones. "But we need to be careful. If there's another trap, we don't want to set it off." I glance back at Varikka, my eyes searching her face for any sign of pain or fear. "Can you hold this position? I'll be right back."
