Round 413 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin pulls Varikka into an embrace, she winces in pain, her twisted ankle throbbing with each movement. "We can't stay here," she says, her voice firm despite the concern etched on her face. "The tunnel is unstable, and the water pressure is rising. We need to keep moving." She glances around, her eyes scanning the narrow opening they emerged from. Varikka nods in agreement, her gaze locked on Merrin's. "I know, but... I don't know if I can make it much further on this ankle," she admits, her voice laced with worry. The air is stale and musty, filled with the scent of damp earth and decay, and the sound of dripping water echoes through the chamber. Merrin's eyes narrow, her mind racing with the challenge ahead. "We'll need to find a way to stabilize your ankle," she says, her voice decisive. "And we can't do it here. We need to keep moving, but we also need to find shelter for you before you can move further." She looks around, her gaze settling on a small alcove in the wall, partially hidden by a tangle of rocks and debris. The ground beneath them gives a faint shudder, and the sound of rising water pressure grows louder. Merrin's face sets in a determined expression. "We need to act fast," she says, her voice low and urgent.
I help Varikka to her feet, my heart aching at the sight of her twisted ankle and the pain etched on her face. I know all too well the agony of an injured limb, and the thought of leaving her behind in this treacherous place is unbearable.
I glance around the chamber, my eyes settling on a small alcove partially hidden by a tangle of rocks and debris. It's not much, but it might offer enough shelter for Varikka to rest and stabilize her ankle while I scout ahead.
"Wait here," I say, my voice firm but gentle as I help Varikka limp towards the alcove. "I'll be back in a few minutes with some supplies to wrap that ankle. And then... then we're going to get out of this godforsaken place, together."
I meet Varikka's gaze, my eyes blazing with determination. "I won't leave you behind," I promise, my voice a whisper. "No matter what happens, we face it as a team. Always."
With that, I turn and slip away into the shadows, my heart heavy with the weight of our shared ordeal but lightened by the knowledge that I have a friend like Varikka by my side. Together, we'll find a way out of this nightmare, or die trying.
