Round 409 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin pushes Varikka forward, the ground shudders beneath them. The sound of falling rocks grows louder, and the air is filled with a thick cloud of dust. Suddenly, the ground gives way, and Varikka's injured ankle throbs in pain as she stumbles, her foot slipping on the slick stone floor. She cries out, grasping for Merrin's arm to steady herself. Merrin quickly grabs Varikka's arm, her grip tightening as she pulls Varikka closer. The tunnel wall behind them begins to crumble, sending a shower of rocks and debris crashing down on the ground. The massive boulder that hurtled down the chamber earlier now comes to rest mere feet away, its impact still resonating through the tunnel. Varikka's eyes lock onto Merrin's, a mixture of fear and determination in their depths. "We need to keep moving," Varikka says, her voice barely above a whisper, as if the sound will trigger another collapse.
My heart races as I feel the ground tremble beneath my feet. The sound of falling rocks grows louder, and a thick cloud of dust fills the air, making it hard to breathe. I stumble forward, my ankle throbbing in pain with each step, but I know we can't afford to slow down now.
"Varikka!" I cry out, reaching for her arm to steady her as she slips on the slick stone floor. "We need to keep moving!"
I can see the fear in Varikka's eyes, but there's a glimmer of determination there too. Together, we stagger forward, our hearts pounding in our chests as we pray that we've finally found a way out of this nightmare alive.
Suddenly, the tunnel wall behind us begins to crumble, sending a shower of rocks and debris crashing down on the ground. I flinch instinctively, my hands coming up to cover my face as the dust fills the air around us.
"Come on!" I urge, my voice tight with urgency as I grab Varikka's arm and pull her forward. "We can't stop now!"
With each step, my ankle throbs in pain, but I force myself to ignore it, knowing that we can't afford to slow down. The massive boulder that hurtled down the chamber earlier now comes to rest mere feet away, its impact still resonating through the tunnel.
I take a deep breath, trying to calm the frantic beating of my heart as we stagger forward into the unknown. The air is thick with dust, and the sound of rushing water echoes from deeper within the passage. But for now, all that matters is keeping one foot in front of the other and praying that we'll make it out of this alive.
I glance over at Varikka, my eyes meeting hers for a brief moment before I turn my gaze forward once more. "We've got this," I say, trying to sound more confident than I feel. "Just keep moving, one step at a time. We'll find our way out of here, I swear it."
And with that, I take a deep breath and stagger forward into the unknown, my heart pounding in my chest as I pray that we've finally found a way out of this nightmare alive.
I stagger to my feet, my ankle throbbing in pain as I grasp my crowbar tightly. Merrin's words echo in my mind, urging me forward even as the tunnel around us crumbles to pieces. I can feel the fear rising in my throat, threatening to choke me, but I force it down, taking a deep breath to steady myself.
"Onward," I mutter, more to myself than to Merrin. "No time to rest."
With each step, I can feel the ground shifting beneath my feet, threatening to give way at any moment. The air is thick with dust, making it hard to breathe, and the sound of falling rocks echoes through the tunnel like a ominous warning.
But still we press on, our hearts pounding in our chests as we pray for a way out of this nightmare. The massive boulder that nearly crushed us lies mere feet away, its impact still resonating through the stone around us.
