Round 407 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Merrin's voice carries through the narrow opening as she urges Varikka forward, her words laced with a sense of urgency. "Come on, Varikka! We need to keep moving, we don't know how much longer the tunnel will hold!" Varikka stumbles forward, her injured ankle throbbing in pain as she takes each step. The air is thick with dust, making it hard to breathe, and the sound of rushing water has faded into the distance, replaced by the ominous creaking of ancient stone. Suddenly, a section of the tunnel wall gives way behind them, sending a shower of rocks and debris crashing down on the ground.
My heart leaps into my throat as I hear the crash of falling rubble behind us. We're running out of time! With a desperate cry, I throw myself forward, squeezing through the narrow opening in the wall with all the speed I can muster. Pain lances through my twisted ankle as I wriggle and struggle to force my way through, but I don't let it stop me. I can hear Varikka's grunts of effort behind me, and the sound of more rubble falling sends a fresh wave of fear surging through my veins.
Finally, with one last heave, I tumble out the other side in a cloud of dust, my lungs burning and my heart pounding. I scramble to my feet, reaching back to help Varikka through the opening. Her face is pale with pain and exhaustion as she emerges, but there's a glimmer of determination in her eyes that matches my own.
We don't have time to rest. The tunnel could collapse at any moment, and we need to keep moving if we want to survive. I take a deep breath, trying to calm the frantic beating of my heart, and turn to face the unknown passage ahead of us.
"Come on, Varikka," I say, my voice tight with urgency. "We need to keep moving. We don't know what's waiting for us down here, but it can't be any worse than what's behind us."
Varikka nods, gripping her crowbar tightly as she staggers to her feet beside me. Together, we start to make our way deeper into the tunnel, our hearts pounding in our chests as we pray that we've finally found a way out of this nightmare alive.
