The Guardian's dark energy dissipates, and the water's turbulent flow slows. Varikka takes a step back, her mace still trembling in her hand. The rogue looks at her with a mix of relief and exhaustion, her eyes sunken from the prolonged battle. As they catch their breath, the sound of rushing water grows louder, and the ground shudders beneath their feet. The unstable stone passage floor creaks ominously, and the air fills with dust and debris.

I can hardly believe it - we did it. The Guardian is defeated, its dark energy dissipating into the churning flood around us. I stare at the creature's fallen form, my daggers still clutched tightly in my hands, as the reality of our victory sinks in.

But there's no time to celebrate. As Varikka and I catch our breath, the sound of rushing water grows louder, and the ground beneath our feet begins to shudder and crack ominously. Dust and debris rain down from the unstable stone passage above us, and I can feel the floor shifting beneath my boots.

I turn to Varikka, my eyes wide with fear. "We need to move. Now. This whole place is coming down around us."

Varikka nods, her expression grim as she takes a step back from the Guardian's corpse. The water continues to rise around our ankles, threatening to sweep us off our feet at any moment.

I glance around the chamber, my eyes scanning the walls for any sign of an escape route. But all I can see is the same crumbling stone and rising floodwaters.

As the ground shudders again, more debris falling from the ceiling, I know we have only moments before the entire passage collapses on top of us. And with Merrin gone and Varikka injured, our options are limited.

I turn to Varikka, my heart pounding in my chest. "We need to find higher ground. Somewhere we can wait out the flood and make a plan."

Varikka nods, her eyes darting around the chamber as she tries to spot any potential escape routes. "There," she says, pointing to a small ledge on the far side of the chamber. "It's not much, but it might be enough to keep us out of the water for a while."

I follow her gaze, my eyes widening as I take in the narrow ledge. It's barely wide enough for two people to stand on, and the water is already lapping at its base. But it's our only chance.

With a deep breath, I nod to Varikka. "Let's go. And pray that this whole place doesn't come down on top of us while we're up there."

And with that, we start to make our way through the rising floodwaters, our hearts pounding in our chests as we race against the collapsing passage and the rising tide.
