As Merrin and Varika continue to push the rubble under the boulder, the ground shudders beneath their feet. The sound of rushing water grows louder, and the air is thick with dust. Suddenly, a loud crack echoes through the tunnel, and a massive boulder hurtles down the chamber towards them. The ground shakes violently, making it hard for them to stand. Merrin's eyes lock onto the boulder, her face set in determination. "We need to get out of here, now!" she shouts above the din. Varika nods, her injured hand throbbing in pain. "I'm trying to find a way up the wall," she says, her voice strained. "But it's hard with this rubble falling everywhere." The boulder is mere feet away, and its impact would crush them both. Do they have time to find a higher vantage point or risk being crushed?

My heart races as I hear the boulder hurtling towards us, its ominous rumble growing louder by the second. I know we don't have much time.

"Varikka!" I shout, my voice straining to be heard over the din. "We need to move now! Try to find a ledge or a handhold in the wall!"

I grab her arm, pulling her towards the side of the tunnel. The ground shakes violently beneath our feet, and I can feel the rubble shifting around us. But I refuse to give up. With a burst of strength, I heave myself up onto the ledge, my mace clattering against the stone as I pull myself to safety.

I reach down for Varikka, my hand outstretched. "Come on!" I shout, my voice filled with urgency. "You can do it! Just grab my hand and I'll pull you up!"

The boulder is mere feet away now, its massive form looming over us as it careens down the tunnel. I know we have only seconds before it crashes into the ledge, sending us both plummeting into the water below.

But still, I hold onto Varikka's hand, my grip firm and unwavering. I will not let her fall. Not when she needs me most.
