As Varikka struggles to find a stable handhold on the narrow ledge, the Glowing-eyed creature lunges again, its screech echoing off the stone walls. Merrin swiftly blocks its path with the heavy mace, but it clatters to the ground, and the creature hesitates, giving Varikka a fleeting window of opportunity. With a surge of adrenaline, Varikka grabs onto the small crack in the stone just above her, her injured hand throbbing in pain. She pulls herself up, her body swaying precariously as she finds a foothold on the ledge. The rising water pressure continues to increase, lapping at their ankles with growing urgency. The creature recovers from its momentary distraction and begins to circle around the ledge, its eyes fixed on Varikka's injured hand. Merrin knows they don't have much time to find a stable way out of this passage before the creature attacks again.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I scan the chamber quickly, my eyes darting over the crumbling stone walls and rising water. My heart races as I spot a narrow ledge running along one side of the room, just above the water line.

"There!" I shout, pointing to the ledge. "We can use that to get higher ground!"

I start to move towards the ledge, but as I do, the Glowing-eyed creature lets out an eerie screech and lunges at Varikka's hand. She cries out in pain, stumbling back into the rising water.

"Varikka!" I shout, racing to her side. "Are you alright?"

I glance up at the ledge again, knowing we don't have much time before the water reaches it too. I turn to Varikka, my expression grim but determined.

"We need to move now," I say, helping her to her feet. "Can you make it up there? I'll keep an eye on our friend here."

I gesture to the Glowing-eyed creature, which is still circling us, its eyes fixed on Varikka's hand. I know we can't fight it off forever, but maybe if we can just get to higher ground, we'll have a chance.

"Let's go," I say, my voice low and urgent. "We've got to get out of here before the whole damn place collapses on top of us."

With that, I start to help Varikka towards the ledge, my eyes never leaving the Glowing-eyed creature as it watches our every move.

As Varikka struggles to find a foothold on the narrow ledge, the Glowing-eyed creature lunges again, its screech echoing off the stone walls. I quickly block its path with the heavy mace, but it clatters to the ground, and the creature hesitates, giving Varikka a fleeting window of opportunity.

With a surge of adrenaline, Varikka grabs onto the small crack in the stone just above her, her injured hand throbbing in pain. She pulls herself up, her body swaying precariously as she finds a foothold on the ledge. The rising water pressure continues to increase, lapping at our ankles with growing urgency.

I glance around the room, looking for anything I can use as a weapon. My eyes land on the heavy mace, still lying on the ground where it had fallen. I know it's too far away to reach easily, but it might be our only chance if the creature attacks again.

I turn back to Varikka, my expression grim but determined. "Hold on tight," I say, my voice low and urgent. "We're not out of this yet."

I scan the ledge quickly, looking for any handholds or footholds Varikka can use to secure her position. The water continues to rise, lapping at my ankles as I search frantically.

"Varikka!" I call out, my voice echoing off the stone walls. "Look for anything you can grab onto! We need to get you stable before that creature comes after you again!"

My eyes dart to the Glowing-eyed creature, which is still circling the room, its movements becoming more erratic as the water rises. I know it won't be long before it makes another attack, and we need to be ready.

I glance back at the ledge, my heart racing as I see Varikka struggling to find a foothold. The ledge is narrow, with only a few small protrusions that might provide some stability.

"Use your good hand!" I shout, pointing to a small crack in the stone just above where Varikka is standing. "Grab onto that! I'll try to keep the creature distracted!"

With that, I turn back to face the Glowing-eyed creature, my hand instinctively moving to my belt where my lockpicks should be. But they're gone, lost in the collapse of the wall. I feel naked without my tools, vulnerable in a way I haven't felt since I first set foot in this damnable tower.

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

I grab onto the crack in the stone with my good hand, my fingers digging into the rough surface as I try to steady myself on the ledge. My injured hand throbs with pain, but I ignore it, focusing instead on finding a foothold.

"Merrin!" I call out, my voice strained with effort. "Keep watch for that creature! I need to find something to hold onto here!"

I scan the ledge frantically, searching for any handholds or footholds that might provide some stability. The water continues to rise, lapping at my ankles as I search.

Suddenly, I spot a small protrusion in the stone just to my left. I reach for it with my injured hand, wincing as I feel the rough edges dig into my palm. But I don't have time to worry about the pain - I need to secure my position before that creature attacks again.

I wedge my foot against the protrusion, using it to brace myself against the ledge. The water continues to rise, and I can feel the ledge starting to shift beneath my feet as the pressure increases. But for now, at least, I'm stable.

"Alright," I call out to Merrin, my voice grim but determined. "I've got a foothold. But we need to find a way out of here before this whole damn place collapses on top of us."
