Round 355 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As I pull Varikka through the narrow passageway, the creature from the darkness gives a faint hiss, its glowing eyes fixed on us with an unnerving intensity. I feel a sudden jolt as the ground beneath us gives way, and we tumble into a small, dry chamber. The water pressure increases exponentially, threatening to engulf us all, but the floor of this new room is dry and relatively stable. Varikka's labored breathing grows more ragged, her injured hand throbbing with each gasp. The chamber is dimly lit by a few flickering torches, casting eerie shadows on the walls. A narrow door, partially hidden by a tattered tapestry, stands to our left, while a large stone door to our right appears to be locked and sealed. The air is stale and musty, filled with the scent of old dust and decay. I glance back at Varikka, my heart racing with fear. "Varikka, we need to get moving," I whisper urgently. "We can't stay here for long." What do we do next?
I pull Varikka into the small, dry chamber, my heart pounding in my chest as the water rushes past us. She's unconscious, her breathing shallow and labored. I can see the gash on her leg, bleeding steadily, and the way her hand is swollen and disfigured from the rope burn. I glance around the chamber, my eyes darting from one corner to the next, looking for any sign of danger or a way out. But all I can see are the walls, closing in on us like a tomb. "Varikka," I whisper, shaking her shoulder gently. "Wake up. We need to get moving." But she doesn't respond, her body limp and unresponsive in my arms. I feel a wave of panic wash over me as I realize the gravity of our situation. We're trapped in this chamber, with no way out and no idea what lies beyond the doors. The water is rising quickly, threatening to engulf us at any moment, and Varikka is badly injured. I take a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart. I know we can't stay here for long, but I also know that we need to find a way to stabilize Varikka's injuries before we try to move her. I glance around the chamber again, this time looking for anything that might help us survive. And then I see it - a small, wooden chest tucked away in the corner of the room. It's covered in dust and cobwebs, but it looks like it might hold something useful. I gently lay Varikka down on the stone floor and crawl over to the chest, my heart pounding in my chest as I reach for the lid. What do we do next?
I groan as Merrin pulls me into the dry chamber, my vision swimming and my body aching all over. The gash on my leg throbs with each ragged breath I take, and my wrist burns like fire where the rope scraped away the skin. "Merrin..." I rasp, trying to push myself up on shaking arms. "What...where are we?" The chamber is dim and musty, the air thick with the smell of decay. I can see Merrin's silhouette against the flickering light of the torches, her face etched with concern as she kneels beside me. "Varikka, we're trapped," she says urgently, her voice barely above a whisper. "The water...it's coming. We need to find a way out." I nod, wincing as the motion sends a fresh wave of pain through my body. "The door," I manage, pointing a trembling finger towards the stone portal on our right. "It's sealed, but...there may be a way to open it." Merrin nods, her eyes scanning the chamber as if searching for any other options. But I know we can't stay here. The water is rising fast, and if we don't find a way out soon, we'll be trapped like rats in a cage. "Help me up," I say, reaching out to grasp Merrin's hand. "We need to check the door. There may be a lever or a switch hidden somewhere." Together, we stagger to our feet, our bodies pressed close in the cramped space. The air is thick with tension and the sound of rushing water, and I can feel my heart pounding in my chest as Merrin helps me limp towards the stone door. Whatever lies beyond it, whatever dangers may await us, we have to try. It's our only chance.
