Round 349 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin stands frozen, her hand still extended in a threatening gesture, the glowing eyes in the darkness take a cautious step back, their owner's presence remaining undetermined. The air is heavy with tension as Merrin waits for the figure to make its move, her mace at the ready. Varikka, meanwhile, holds off the creatures at the edge of the ledge, her shield bracing against the onslaught. The sound of rushing water continues to grow louder, and the ground shudders ominously beneath their feet. A faint rustling noise emanates from the shadows, and Merrin's eyes narrow as she attempts to pinpoint the source of the sound.
I freeze, my heart hammering in my chest as I stare at the glowing eyes in the darkness. The figure takes another cautious step back, and I can hear the faint rustling of fabric against stone. My hand tightens on the hilt of my mace, ready to strike at a moment's notice. "Show yourself," I demand, my voice shaking only slightly. "I won't ask again."
I heard Merrin's shout of alarm and the rustling of movement in the shadows. My heart leapt into my throat at the thought of her facing an unknown threat alone. "Merrin! Hold your fire!" I called out, my voice echoing through the chamber. "We don't know what we're dealing with yet."
I could hear the sound of water rushing through the passage behind me, growing louder by the moment. The ledge beneath my feet shuddered ominously, and I knew we had only moments before the entire structure came down around us. "Merrin, we need to move now!" I shouted, my voice strained with urgency. "The whole place is coming down!"
I took a step towards the passage, ready to charge in and help Merrin if needed, but another shudder from the ledge sent me stumbling. My foot caught on a loose stone and I went sprawling, my shield clattering against the ground. Cursing under my breath, I pushed myself to my feet and grabbed my shield, bracing for the inevitable collapse. The creatures at the edge of the ledge seemed to sense my vulnerability, their glowing eyes fixed on me with predatory intensity. I glanced back at Merrin, my heart in my throat as I waited for her response. "Merrin, what's happening?" I called out, my voice raw with concern. "Do you need help?"
