Round 341 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Varikka hauls Merrin forward, the boulder crashes down mere inches from them, sending a shower of rubble and dust swirling around their ankles. The impact sends shockwaves rippling through the stone, causing the ledge to shudder violently beneath their feet. A section of the wall collapses behind them, sending a cascade of falling debris down onto the chamber below. The sound of rushing water grows louder, and the water surges around their ankles with increased ferocity. Varikka's crossbow is knocked askew by the impact, its bolt stuck in the stone wall behind them. Merrin stumbles, her injured leg protesting the sudden movement. "Varikka, I think my leg gives out!" she cries out, her voice laced with panic. Immediate Pressure: Can Varikka stabilize Merrin and retrieve her crossbow before they're swept away by the rising water?
I cry out as my leg gives way beneath me, the pain lancing through my calf like a white-hot brand. I stumble forward, my hands scrabbling at the slick stone for purchase even as the rising water surges around my ankles. "Varikka!" I shout, my voice hoarse with panic. "I can't...I can't stand!"
But even as the words leave my mouth, I see Varikka lunge forward, her strong hands gripping my arms and hauling me up to my feet. "Stay with me, Merrin!" she growls, her eyes flashing in the dim light. "We're not done yet!"
Together, we stagger forward through the rising water, our bodies pressed close as we struggle to keep our balance on the treacherous ledge. The creatures are still out there, lurking in the shadows, but for now they seem content to let us fight our own battle against the collapsing chamber. Varikka keeps one hand on my arm, steadying me even as she reaches behind her with the other, her fingers scrabbling at the stone where her crossbow is lodged. With a final heave, she wrenches the weapon free, bringing it around to bear on the darkness ahead. "Come on," she says, her voice tight with tension. "We've got to keep moving."
I nod grimly, my own crossbow raised and ready as we stagger forward through the chaos and carnage of the crumbling chamber. The water surges around our ankles, growing deeper with each passing moment, but still we press on, driven by some desperate instinct for survival. And even as the walls crumble around us and the creatures close in from all sides, I feel a flicker of hope kindling in my chest. We may be trapped, surrounded, and outnumbered...but we're not alone. We have each other, and as long as we stand together, there's still a chance that we might make it out of this hellhole alive.
