As Varikka readies her crossbow, the creature lunges forward again, its jaws snapping mere inches from their heels. The sound of the rising water pressure grows louder, and the air is filled with the acrid smell of damp earth and debris. Suddenly, a section of the wall gives way entirely, sending a shower of rubble cascading down onto the ledge behind them. Merrin's mace crashes against the stone wall, sending sparks flying as it shatters the boulder that had hurtled towards her and Varikka. The creature recoils, momentarily stunned, but its eyes quickly refocus on Varikka, its jaws still open wide in a deadly strike. Varikka swiftly hauls Merrin out of the way, the two women tumbling across the slick stone as the creature lunges forward once more. As they struggle to stay upright, the ground shudders violently beneath their feet, and the water surges around their ankles. The sound of the structural collapse grows louder, and the air is filled with the ominous rumble of falling rocks. Varikka's eyes scan the horizon, searching for a safe route to higher ground, while Merrin looks at her with a mix of fear and determination in her eyes, her injured leg throbbing with every step.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

The ledge crumbles beneath my feet, and I stagger forward, barely managing to keep my balance on the slick stone. The water surges around my ankles, rising at an alarming rate, and I can feel the ground shaking with each passing moment. "Varikka!" I scream, my voice barely audible over the roar of the collapsing chamber. "We need to find higher ground, now!"

But even as the words leave my mouth, I know it's too late. The creature lunges forward again, its jaws snapping mere inches from our heels, and Varikka readies her crossbow, preparing to fire at the beast if necessary. But I can see the fear in her eyes, the same desperate determination that burns in my own chest. We're both exhausted, injured, and trapped in a death trap. I look around frantically, searching for any sign of safety or escape. But all I can see is the rising water, the crumbling walls, and the shadowy forms of the creatures lurking in the darkness. "Varikka," I gasp, my fingers digging into her arm as I struggle to keep my balance on the slick stone. "Please...please don't let go."

The dwarf meets my gaze, her expression fierce and determined. "I won't," she promises, her voice rough with emotion. "I've got you, Merrin. We're going to make it out of this alive. Together."

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

I pull Merrin along the ledge, our feet sliding on the slick stone as the ground shudders violently beneath us. The water surges around our ankles, rising at an alarming rate, and I can feel the weight of the chamber pressing down on us from all sides. "Stay with me, Merrin!" I shout over the roar of the collapsing walls. "We need to keep moving!"

But even as I say the words, I know it's a losing battle. The creature lunges forward again, its jaws snapping mere inches from our heels, and I ready my crossbow, preparing to fire at the beast if necessary. But there are too many of them, and they're coming from all directions. I can see the fear in Merrin's eyes, the same desperate determination that burns in my own chest. We're both exhausted, injured, and trapped in a death trap. And I know, deep down, that we may not make it out of this alive. But still, I don't let go of Merrin's hand. I haul her along the ledge, my muscles burning with exertion as we fight our way through the chaos and carnage of the crumbling chamber. The water surges around our ankles, rising at an alarming rate, and the ground shakes with each passing moment. But I don't let go. I can't let go. Merrin is my friend, my comrade, and I'll be damned if I let her fall to her death in this godforsaken place. So I keep moving, keep fighting, even as the walls crumble around us and the creatures close in from all sides. And I pray to whatever gods may be listening that we find a way out of this hellhole alive.
