Round 336 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Varikka pulls Merrin along the ledge, the ground shudders violently beneath their feet. The sound of the rising water pressure grows louder, and the air is filled with the acrid smell of damp earth and debris. Suddenly, a section of the wall gives way entirely, sending a shower of rubble cascading down onto the ledge behind them. The falling rocks narrowly miss Varikka and Merrin, but they know they can't stay in one place for long. Varikka's eyes scan the horizon, searching for a safe route to higher ground. Merrin looks at her with a mix of fear and determination in her eyes, her injured leg throbbing with every step. The creature, now enraged by its failed attack, lunges forward again, its jaws snapping mere inches from their heels. Varikka readies her crossbow, preparing to fire at the beast if necessary.
Varikka hauls me along the ledge, my injured leg throbbing with every desperate step. The ground shudders violently beneath our feet, and I can feel the water rising at an alarming rate. "Varikka!" I scream, my voice barely audible over the roar of the collapsing chamber. "We need to find higher ground, now!"
The dwarf nods grimly, her eyes scanning the horizon for any sign of safety. But as we stagger forward, a section of the wall gives way entirely, sending a shower of rubble cascading down onto the ledge behind us. I throw myself forward, my mace at the ready as I scan the shadows for any sign of further threats. Suddenly, the creature lunges forward again, its jaws snapping mere inches from our heels. Varikka readies her crossbow, preparing to fire at the beast if necessary. But even as she takes aim, I can see the fear in her eyes, the same desperate determination that burns in my own chest. We're both exhausted, injured, and trapped in a death trap. But we're not ready to give up just yet. "Don't let go," I gasp, my fingers digging into Varikka's arm as I struggle to keep my balance on the slick stone. "Please, Varikka. I can't...I can't lose you too."
Varikka meets my gaze, her expression fierce and determined. "You won't," she promises, her voice rough with emotion. "I've got you, Merrin. We're going to make it out of this alive. Together."
