Round 333 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin continues to move forward, her mace at the ready, the glowing-eyed creature darts out from the darkness ahead, its eyes fixed menacingly on Varikka. She swiftly moves to intercept it, her own mace at the ready. With a swift strike, she slams her mace against the wall, shattering the stone and sending a loud crack echoing through the chamber. The creature recoils momentarily, giving Varikka just enough time to grab Merrin's arm and pull her along the ledge. However, in that brief moment of distraction, the chamber lurches violently, throwing both women off balance. Merrin's injured leg buckles again, but this time, she feels herself being pulled toward the edge of the ledge, her grip on Varikka's arm faltering.
I feel myself losing my balance, my fingers scrabbling frantically at Varikka's arm as I try to keep from tumbling over the edge of the ledge. "Varikka!" I cry out, my voice high and panicked as I struggle to find purchase on the slick stone. "Help me!"
I can feel the weight of my armor dragging me down, the cold water lapping at my boots as I cling desperately to the dwarf's arm. My injured leg throbs with pain, threatening to give out entirely as I strain to keep my footing. "Please," I gasp, my fingers digging into Varikka's flesh as I try to haul myself back onto solid ground. "Don't let go!"
I know that we're both in danger here, that the chamber could come down on top of us at any moment. But right now, all I can focus on is the feel of the water against my skin, the sickening lurch of my stomach as I teeter on the brink of falling into the darkness below. Varikka's grip tightens on my arm, her muscles straining as she fights to keep me from tumbling over the edge. "Hold on, Merrin!" she shouts, her voice rough with effort. "I've got you!"
I feel a surge of relief as Varikka hauls me back onto the ledge, my chest heaving as I struggle to catch my breath. "Thank you," I gasp, my eyes wide and scared as I look up at the dwarf. "I thought I was gone for sure."
But even as I say the words, I can feel the ground shaking beneath our feet, the sound of crumbling stone echoing through the chamber. "We need to keep moving," I say, forcing myself to my feet despite the pain in my leg. "We can't afford to stop now."
